Remember the labels @moshea posted? Here's the announcement. Looks like they're both year-round tap releases, with a limited bottle run coming soon. Details in the screenshots because FB won't allow copy/paste from a mobile.

Filed under things I do while watching TV at night.

Remember this from a month ago? Posted to Short's Twitter feed with no other description than "Coming soon"

Well, I did a quick little search and found way more than I thought I would. And despite the "Short’s Brew" name, I believe that rather than a champagne-inspired brew, it's actually sparkling wine.

Here's a link describing the trademark filing, which clearly shows that it's for wine:

And more interesting, here's an article having to do with the protection of the name "champagne." Scroll to the final paragraph to see Short's Canpagne mentioned by name.

Why this would fall under the Short's Brew than Starcut brand is beyond me.

It doesn't, necessarily, based on this info. The trademarks for Octorock, Squishy, etc are registered to Short's as well.

I'm mostly referring to the label on the can itself. Maybe it's just a mock-up for now, and they'll have another brand name when it launches.

Bloody Beer has yet to be taken off of the schedule for October. This may actually happen!

    Hopefully not too off topic...

I was lucky enough to find a few bottles of the Bourbon Barrel Aged Black Cherry Porter. Given the format, I prefer to share the beer with friends so I'm not planning on drinking them all immediately. Is it OK to cellar this beer given it has "cherry purée" in it? I don't typically cellar beer with any type of fruit in it, so I was wondering what others think.

Interesting to see Short's brewing up a VJ Porter now that Atwater is no longer with Imperial Beverage.

Space Rock is on of my favorites. Looking forward to this one. Any reports on how it is drinking at the pub?

I do not contest. Most of the time I'd say Imperial Porter's are really just stouts, but I think the moniker is deserved here; the mouthfeel is thin enough that it's a porter but the flavors are robust & bold enough for the imperial/double tag.

The cherries are mildly tart & earthy, not cloying. The base beer has nice coffee & earth notes, and the bourbon barrel adds gravitas but doesn't overwhelm the flavor.

Bravo!! Glad I grabbed a 2nd, I'll have to share the next one with a friend...
