I tend to get a lot of beer "gifts" from friends and relatives that may or may not know a lot about beer. This has included memberships to beer of the month clubs, etc. I am always thankful, but this can create a large amount of brews that I don't necessarily want to drink. Sometimes less than desirable extras are included in trade boxes too (not BA trades for the most part).

Sometimes I give them away to people that want them, use them in cooking, or drink them when I can't decide what else to drink.

What I don't do is stick them in boxes as "extras" or as locals in a L4L trade.

Free beer is never a problem to complain about, but I get what the OP is saying. I probably have 25-30 bottles in my cellar that I would just drink to not waste, not because I want to drink them.

That's where fun with blending comes in handy.

That could be a fun experiment, but I'm sure it is hard to make

I drink them when I have a cold. I'm congested so the taste doesn't matter and the high alcohol kills the germs in my body. I'm pretty sure that's how it works.

I've said this before. Get a bottle capper. Finish those high abv beers the following day.

That's where the fun and creativity come in. And if it doesn't work out, just move on to the next thing. At least they're no longer taking up space.

I invite co-workers to my house for a share. I tell them to bring nothing. They are amazed by the share idea! It's been fun talking them through beer and the culture and I've made some good relationships. To them, a Stone RIS or Old Raspy is something there never had. New and exciting:wink:

One man's shelf turd is another man's marinade.

    1. I typically only buy beer that I want to drink to begin with

    2. On the oft occasion that I buy a beer that I don't like as much as the usual ones that I get (I research scores beforehand usually) I will still try to drink it anyway

    3. If it's just nasty I see if the GF wants it or throw it out

If it's a big bottle and is not high abv, I drink it in a sitting with a meal or for 'dessert'. If it's high abv, I put a stopper in the bottle after a fresh pour with a meal, then finish it later that day or next day. Usually there is still ample carbonation, but a still beer is okay with me.

Ugggm the end is near. Too big or boozy? Not possible unless you bought a magnum. Once in a while one gets rolled under a shelf or lost in the back of the fridge. Marinade or reduction sauce.

Not sure, if I get a beer I will drink it especially if I paid a lot for it. If you don't want them or won't consume give them to a good friend and let them enjoy, I would not pour them out or waste, just gift and move on to new stuff.
    Cheers.

I have no idea actually what you are talking about. I have made a few purchasing errors, but 99% of my beer I consume. I buy what I enjoy, and if I experiment I can usually drink the evidence.

Maybe Im missing something here but if you have a fridge full of turds, one wonders why you put turds in your fridge in the first place?

Either cook with them or give them to folks when they come over.
