Twin Cities Bottle Hunt - 2017

Anyone know if Humungus was sold out? Wondering if I show up tmrw if I'll still be able to snag a bottle.

 

I did a side by side of '16 and '17 editions last night (for science and it ended any thought of drinking any more alcohol for the night). The '16 was easily the lesser of the species. It was all wood, not necessarily oak, but just wood. The '17 had more bourbon and vanilla and overall better. I have older vintages and may do a comparison of those as well as soon as my liver recovers. As many bourbon barrels and as much blending Founder's has to do, it would take a crop of under-performing barrels to create such results. I have to assume a lot of 3rd use barrels were used at least for the '16 year. And if Founders wants to use some of those BLiS barrels for Backwoods Bastard, you have my permission.

 

Bottles are available as of 3:00 this afternoon (Sunday). $18.00 price tag. I thought it was quite good, would have liked to have tried last years as well but we were on a short string!

 

Last years was completely different and honestly not that great.

 

Thanks for your opinion! I think the 3rd use barrel and 4th? are in play. This BA SA has diminished for 4 year's now. Just IMO but tha'st me.

Does anyone know how well Sour Patch Kids hold up aged in a barrel? Asking for a friend...

Does anyone know how long the bottled BA Ten was in barrels?

 

I know we and others saw Ten in barrels during the 10 year anniversary tour thingy at the old brerwery. That event was way back on 6/24/16, so it is possible it has been in barrels for over a year.

 

$20 BA Ten is a bit hard to pull the trigger on without having tried it. Is this worth the cost?

 

A couple places I haunt in the south metro got 1 case & 2 cases of BA Ten, both received far more Darkness. I can imagine this is going to fly off the shelves, but if even small accounts are getting this much, I don't believe it will be too hard to find.

 

This batch of Abrasive (10/17) is tasting mighty fine.
