Nope. Two years ago there was no date. And some of the run last year didn't have a date. I think they had some undated bottles from the prior year.

 

Spirit foul sightings?

 

Supposed to hit a few stores today, Princeton's and TW MG are the ones I am keeping an eye out for. In fact, Fair State has a list of what stores are getting it and what do on their site, so that should help focus where to look.

Fair State also just tweeted a link to a write up about Spirit Foul and Hazy IPAs. Sounds like they changed their mind and will be doing more hazy IPAs due to how much we loved Spirit Foul. The other good news to come out the write up was they said they made double the amount of last time, so hopefully it will be easier to get.

 

Niko seems to be implying that they'll be New Englandizing their excellent standard IPA. As an IPA fan watching the NEIPA bandwagon from the sidelines, that's exactly the sort of development I'm worried about (the crowding out of what I consider superior product). But, hey, money talks. They're a co-op, not a non-profit.

 

Well, if it gives them capital to brew more special-release lagers, I'm ok with it.

 

I don't get why so many out there are against the trend, even brewers. It's just another style of beer that sometimes I'm in the mood for, sometimes I'm not. I'll welcome an additional IPA style that differs from what I normally drink any day of the week.

I just read a quick little Q&A with Surly's new head brewer and he was as quick as he could be to bash the style. If your audience wants it and your audience likes it, why bash it? It's just an alternative IPA style.

 

TW MG has DSDB and Dragon's Milk Reserve plus Surly anniversaries 7 and up and yet more Darkness.

 

Spirit Foul is at MG Total Wine.

 

Huh, mine last year had dates and the pic from Bent Paddle's Twitter/Facebook of the bottling line showed 2017 on the back.

 

'15 didn't have dates along with some of '16 as the unused '15 bottles were used off in '16.
