Forbidden Root (2018)

Fermented in Pepto Bismol barrels.

 

Had this most recent batch of Ghost Tropic last night. Bit on the sweet side by my estimate, but not something I mind at all. Definitely get the candied fruit. The 8.2% is really hidden. Overall a very well done IIPA. Love the can art. Really looking forward to the other 3 cans for sure.

I'm sure this has been covered somewhere in the previous 32 pages, but what's the hop profile on this?

 

Major Label Almond.... I fell in love with Almond Stout for the first time at Big Hugs day last year... then the recent bourbon county made me think we had to try it with major label....

 

For Untappd purposes, is this canned version Ghost Tropic considered “Batch 2”? Or is that from a different iteration? Thanks! #ticklife4life

 

Yeah it is that same one but to be honest we don’t care.. we like names and labels more than batches. Every Snoochie has had changes but we don’t care about batches we just want to dial the best version in...

 

Extract or real nuts?

 

Extract... came out to make a creamy light nutty finish, cut the heavy roast.. it’s nice... Epic Spices makes amazing stuff for us to use!

 

I feel like it needs to be said that "extract" is not always a dirty word. Certain things are very difficult to get into beer except in the form of extract, and I'd be willing to bet that more of the beers that have additives use extracts than we know.

Sometimes it's unnecessary, though, and I'm particularly against it when it's fruit extract.

 

Yeah we are just doing some one off kegs not making full batches.. only way to do it! Just for fun!

 

Is it cool or weird that I shared a Ghost Tropic with a Parisian in the Latin Quarter in Paris? He loved it.

Just got back! Paris, IL is awesome this time of year. I highly recommend the Family Video on Central Avenue.

 

was in Forbidden Root last night, Frame & Canvas still tasting god damn great, maybe even better than earlier? Also tried the Major Label Debut Almond variant, which I really liked, almond felt subtle but present to me, which was good. Also rad that Shamm's is back on tap.

Hey Brian (@KrajDoesBeer ), thought you should know that I called yesterday asking if Ghost Tropic cans were still available (I knew the answer). The woman who answered the phone was awesome - she was telling me about the Friday release, and proceeded to recommend other beers that she thought I'd like. Point being, she really didn't have to do any of that, and it was a really good reflection on how your place is run as a whole. Cheers.
