    Bourbon Barrel-Aged Ten Fidy...

Been a while since I dropped some birthday nods on ya, so here's a few...

Christopher Tolkien, son of legendary author, J. R. R., 93 today... Chew on that for moment... A man in his own right, but of course it was his father's work that attracted the public eye... Easy to forget that The Hobbit was published in 1937, and Lord of the Rings in 1954...

Here's another one off-the-beaten-path, Richard Marcinko, 77 today... Just finished watching the Netflix series, The Punisher... My fandom of the character goes all the way back to his first appearance in Spiderman... Unsurprisingly, I have also had an interest in accounts of Vietnam and other conflicts, which led me to Marcinko's first book, Rogue Warrior, 1992...

And a more familiar - and friendly - face, Michael Strahan, 46 today... While he doesn't share any literary background with Tolkien and Marcinko, he does come from a military family... But to me, he was a top-flight defensive end and Hall-of-Famer for Big Blue... Seems like a real cool dude, too...

While Wolverine and Punisher were two pf my favorite superheroes as a kid, in my adulthood, I've become really fond of this guy (Ryan Reynolds does it so well)...

Really looking forward to Deadpool 2 this summer...

    Cheers...

Had a very good conference with Jr's teacher, now having donut holes and a Clear Sky from @SomethingClever on a gray morning.

Morning beer after sanitizing a bunch of bottles for bottling
    homebrewed Export Stout later today.

For me, this was the only winner in the snow pack. That said, I would buy a 6 pack of Bell's Arabicacadabra over this if they were side by side on the shelf. Different styles, I realize, but just personal preference. Enjoy what's in your glass today BA!

Picked these up when I got into Tampa last night, about the freshest cans in the little place I stopped. Very limey.

Time to kick back with a beer after tending to life's details. It's very cinnamon forward with some pleasant bourbon and oak in the finish. The coffee and vanilla take a back seat. Cheers to another day!

Some vintage Rush for no particular reason.....

Thank you! I probably made it more difficult than it needed to be, since I didn't trade for any of them. There are quite a few styles that we never see around these parts, so I picked up a bunch of them while vacationing. I've also been a victim of the dreaded database revision on more than one occasion. I'll enjoy the accomplishment while it lasts.

Next quest: 50 states. All I need are Arkansas, North Dakota, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. Too bad I wasn't a BA when I visited these places last. :slight_frown:

Light yellow color with small white cap.

Aroma primarily lime of a heavier sort like West Indian Lime with a bit of sweet malt peaking out.

Taste on entry is lime of a much lighter sort, Key West maybe, carried by a malt base but lime is the dominant flavor. Hop level is low enough I can't taste it.

    Medium texture with balancing carbonation.

It might be more accurate to call this a lime flavored lager rather than a Pilsner due to the low hop presence. That said it's a relative flawless lightly flavored lager with with more body than the brewer's description implies. The malt sweetness is indeed subtle but there's enough to offset lime tartness creating a refreshing, easy drinking brew.

    Round #2
Homebrewed Thomas Hardy clone at 13 months in the bottle. Pretty good for having no clue what I'm doing.
I pulled the recipe from a long dead BA thread. Never had the original, but this is a fair example of an English barleywine.

Now, this is a home brew fail...
Supposed to be an export stout and wound up with a roasty barleywine. Just shoved 3 gallons worth under the basement stairs for what little yeast is left to carbonate the bottles. I'll revisit in a month or two. Cheers all!

Roguenbier redux. This stuff is delicious. Hearty, malty, earthy, spicy, a little sour, a little bitter. I'm saving some to pair with a Bavarian Sausage and Sauerkruat Hot Pocket later. (If this doesn't exist, it surely needs to be invented.)

I have 17 Sculpin in the fridge. Talk about an overload of Sculpin. Will offer it to people on Thanksgiving but they always bring their own drinks so I doubt many of them will be given out. I wouldn't mind having some left for Christmas but people talking about how important the freshness is has me worried, as these are already pushing 3 months. Though the 6-pack I originally bought was about 5 months and they tasted fine.
