Won't be able to make it to Lexington today, but was able to score 3 bottles of BCBS and 1 Barleywine before family and friends woke up for festivities. Little victories I guess lol

Yeah I was the last person at Hamburg to get a regular and they had a crap ton of reserve, I got my three bottles (2 for friends) and didn’t realize how expensive the reserve was going to be. I’ll save my money for snake cake!

FYI for those trying to get snake cake: line is about 50 people deep at the moment.

Didn't make it to town for Snake Cake because of BC shenanigans, and it sounds like I would have been out of luck anyway. If anybody wants to part with one, holler at me.

We got here about 10:45, got our bottles around 11:20 and they were done about a half hour later.

Lucky enough to have gotten my snake cake. I also retract my statement that low beam isn’t a New England IPA. I hadn’t had it in a couple months and it is an entirely different beer. Not dank but definitely on par with trillium

I would probably agree. I am not a trillium fan but I would say it’s in that vein. I think if anything, the best NE ipa I have had in lex is fadtastic from ethereal. FYI, ethereals anniversary is killer. The coffee dark and raspy stole the show for me. The coffee and the raspberry was great.

Spot on with the coffee Dark & Raspy. For me it's better than the regular BBA version. All the coffee flight beers were excellent. And Low Beam was really good. While not as good as Fadtastic it is a pretty good representation of the style.

Drink a lot of NE IPAs from Veil, Triple Crossing, Answer, Charles Towne Fermentory, Other Half and others (like trillium) and Low Beam is not even close to those. To each their own though.

Its all a matter of taste, but I think low beam and fadtastic stand up to att least some of Trilliums regulars pretty well, it's when you get to their more limited stuff that they are way behind. Also what they are calling low beam now is a totally different beer than what I had earlier, the earlier iteration was something totally different for the worse. I've had a handful of other breweries stuff too ( hill farmstead, alchemist, treehouse, Lawson's finest, and a few others) and would say something similar for their offerings that I had ( which weren't rare). But to me being able to drive after work and get a half growler of something I think is somewhat comparable is pretty awesome.

Try fadtastic, just had it again today and it’s a damn good version of the style. Probably the best one I have had in lex.

It also depends on the character you expect. I’m not saying that it’s Congress st or anything but even trillium has slightly calmer profile IPAs. Viscinity is a good example.

All I know is they fixed mouth feel, definitely worked on their biotransformation (and I’m guessing yeast strain), and the bitterness isn’t even half of what it was when they initially released.

Might be in the minority but man, dark and raspy BBA might be my favorite from this weekend. That beer is a raspberry bourbon ball that is fantastic!

CV Baba is amazing. Alepail Experiment is better. If you miss Alepail, you are failing at beer.

Anyone have a rough estimate of the number of cases that the Louisville Liquor Barns had of Northwoods?
