Keep your New Glarus. Never understood the hype. Central Waters on the other hand. Haven't had anything I haven't loved.

Yeah new Glarus is way overrated, central waters on the other hand is close to my heart. Was my first bbs and their imperial stout is my go to for a simple cheaper 6pk. Got black gold a few years back and just drank it this month. Solid. Very bourbony

New Glarus fruit beers are fucking delicious, cheap, and all over Wisconsin. That alone takes them out of the "overrated" category in my book, but a lot of their Thumbprint series is really good, too. I get people not being blown away by some of their more standard releases, and the love for Spotted Cow is a bit overblown to me.

I'm honestly pretty happy being on both sides of the border as much as I am.

I can somewhat see what you’re saying about it not tasting like beer, but you could have said that about BCBS when it first come out. Or even Vanilla Rye more recently, which is so highly regarded.

I find it to be a bad idea to have BCBS paired with something else so sweet. It just clashes.

I was thinking the same thing. I enjoy BW every once in awhile, but there is no reason for them to make so much of it. Especially now that it’s 2nd use barrels. Why wouldn’t they dedicate that to variants that are more desirable (and they can charge more for)? It’s not like they have a regular BW that is well known and being aged in those barrels. I know some have mentioned how they love it, but it’s clearly the slowest moving variant....yet they produce the most of it.

Do a lottery or an online ticket sale for variant allotments and whatever regular and BW is left do first come first serve at the POS, end the drama. As far as raising prices, look at Bourbon. You'll never kill the secondary market, so raising prices on the limited stuff probably won't work anyways.

Goose screwed the pooch on that. They held back 20,000+ bottles for a year and then tried to up charge them by another $20 on a beer that isn't anything special to begin with. Going back to 2010 and 2011, 99% of the general population still doesn't even know what OG Rare is. If regular was sitting around back then, it wasn't sitting long. In any case, the beer snobs adjust to price increases very quickly. The profiteers aren't going to stop buying it because the secondary will most likely go up proportionally. This stuff is not going to sit on shelves unless Goose has a repeat of 2015 in the near future, which isn't going to happen...just ask what happened to Maple Rye. That whole 2015 debacle is a perfect example of how Goose takes care of their customers and isn't trying to gouge. They did not have to refund anything, let alone prices paid at scummy shops that charged double MSRP. The fact that the BCBS and variants doesn't sit at those shops is a prime example of how a price increase will not kill the market. At any rate, it goes back to John Hall's philosophy and that was to make great beer. It wasn't to maximize profits. He primarily sold to AB because he knew he couldn't take Goose to the next level and that's something he desperately wanted for GI. Furthermore, with all the InBev hate these days, and you can bet they are well aware of it, I'm sure they don't want to do anything to stir the pot.

    :grinning:

Probably a long shot but do you think there are any bottles of Prop hanging around? Really wanted to get a bottle or two to share with family for the holidays coming up

Your best bet is to hit the upcoming Whole Foods releases (and obviously get there early as I'm sure Prop will be the or one of the first variants to go).

Couldn't agree more. The "disappointment" people show on barleywines over stouts is perplexing to me. I guess people like coffee and chocolate flavors over toffee, caramel and dark fruits. Whatever! More for me.

A property tax recipe should entitle you to a Prop allotment.

^^. This. And the line jumping across the street to Best Buy created the clusterfuck. I felt bad for the people packing up their tents but I just assumed they had someone else in line and they would rejoin them.
