Jesus! I forgot about CBS being same day. . . I was going to try the store by Woodfields. I’m still just after bcbs stuff, because I’m going to founders for the release on the 2nd weekend. Thanks again for the info. Cheers!

Seeing Whole Foods is doing a release this weekend, but is there any chance of grabbing any variants from today until Tuesday anywhere in Chicago? Don't mind paying slight gouging if there is some. Missed out on the hunt this year unfortunately and would really love to try Reserve or Coffee.

How much regular did they make this year? Melrose Park Costco had like 2 1/2 pallets this afternoon. Takes a little of the sting off of not being able to head out on BF, but still would like at least a couple bottles of BW. Pretty much given up on coffee and prop.

I'd think all the variants are long gone with the exception of whatever they'll have at the Whole Foods releases this Friday and a few mom&pop shops that have exorbitant prices on them.

I'm hoping that BW drops at Walgreens sometime this week and maybe I get lucky at WF on Friday.

Anyone know how to get a read on what variants each Whole Foods store is getting? The Whole Foods' blog just says, "We will not know the quantity that each store will receive until the day the product arrives in-store," which leads me to believe it's down to having a line on someone in the liquor department, or otherwise, a total crap shoot.

It will be interesting to see what happens with the second drop. It’s happened the last couple years...

Spent the weekend in Chicago with my kids, we went to Binny's Grand location and got full allotments and 4-2016 Props between my group, who gave me all their haul:grin: except 1 coffee. Went to Timothy O Tooles at 4pm that day and got 12-15 BCBC vertical and then at 5pm got to try all the 2017 variants. Ran around town to a few places last night and all the variants except reserve on tap again. Overall a great weekend.

Already in the making. BW went into the barrels that had reserve in them. Next year, there will be two BWs just like there was supposed to be this year.

Granted I'm speculating, but I think there is a reasonable chance I'm right.

So you got 4 full allocations and 4 Prop '16 minus a coffee at Grand?

I thought '17 barleywine went back to the 3rd usage - bourbon barrels that aged BCBS and now barleywine?

It would appear a lot. My Sam's Club had 8 cases yesterday. Friend reported seeing it at Meijer on shelf today - no limits, $10.99 per bottle. I almost never see limited release beer at Meijer down here. It's going to be (kind of) fun seeing where all it shows up this year. Any variant sightings at Target yet? That's when you truly know it's the beginning of the end of the BCBS hunt for the year.

It's still second usage like '16. That's what the brewer told us during the GI Clybourn tasting (and what was on that tasting menu as well).

Thats disappointing. Im suddenly not worried that I missed out on an extra barleywine.

Finishing a barley right now. Lots of stonefruit - maybe cherry? Little toffee. Lotta boozy bourbon. As an added bonus to the day, I got to split a bottle of Northwoods earlier today due to a generous Ba. I liked it a lot. Definitely on the sweet spectrum and not really tart. The almond on the nose is pretty incredible. Reminds me of some sort of delicious baked goods. Really dug regular too, but already mentioned that. I won't rank 'em because they're all so different, but the line-up so far this year is solid for sure.

I believe they’ve gone so far as to say that they plan on 2nd use barrels from here on out for BW. I could be wrong, but if that’s so, the the days of 3rd use BW are no longer - save for any special things they do with Rare/Reserve barrel situations.

Does anyone know if the Knob Creek Reserve bourbon that came out has anything to do with the BCBS Reserve? I'm guessing no because the bourbon says 9 year aged, and the BCBS says it was put in 11 year aged barrels.
