Very disappointing. I still liked the barleywine last year (haven't had this years), but it won't be the same as those old 3rd use barleywines that were so fantastic.

I believe that knob creek reserve is just one of these barrel picks that was picked out by the GI crew then released with that information on it to market it.

I wished I ditched the line and spent the day drinking at the Tap Room. Was completely surprised we were so far down the line line after they passed out tickets to everyone, dozens of line cutters and 14 year old children. Will be going to my local liquor store next year after three prior treks to Binny's LP.

Binny's LP didn't pre-bag guaranteed allotments as they did last year in the same space, adding to the frustration and delay. GI bottled more this year vs. prior years (with draft being reduced). I don't believe Binny's will be getting such a large LP allotment next year, hopefully they will manage the situation better. Non-existent line management, communication, 2 less cashiers then last year and nice weather for November led to the perfect storm.

My brother was pleasantly surprised with ample supply in Las Vegas including variants, Northwoods included, picked up a bottle for me I look forward to drinking next month.

That and the guy near there with the friend who got taken away by the ambulance:
    "ED, WHERE ARE YOU?"
    "YOU KILLED MY FRIEND!"
    "ED IS DEAD!"
The combination of all of the above contributed somewhat to my lack of staying asleep.

Yep, was at the target on elston. Only had regular and barley left at the time, but the sign said 4 varieties of bcbs. And it looked like they were all just priced at 13.99.

3rd use or not, this years BW tastes just like 14 did when fresh. Don't sleep on it.

for anyone around naperville/lisle, i'm pretty confident that Base Camp in Four Lakes still has Prop on tap today (as well as 2014 barleywine). it wasn't all that busy when i left around 430 yesterday.

When you look at your bank statement on Monday after Black Friday and realize you spent $200 on BCBS. :grimacing:

Out of all the things Binny's could do next year to cut down on shenanigans, I think the single thing that would have the broadest impact is eliminating in-line drinking.

It's a lot easier to rationalize standing/sitting/camping/passing out on a city sidewalk for 15 hours when you know you're going to be getting shitfaced while doing it.

Eliminating drinking wouldn't completely solve the line clusterfuck, assuming people are sober when they arrive, but it would help keep it a little tighter as the night/morning wore on and it became less obvious where the line should continue.

And eliminating drinking would cut down on the line jumping nonsense as well. Yeah, there will still be rude assholes no matter what, but alcohol not only reduces peoples' capacity to notice and object to line jumping, but it also boosts the courage of anyone who might not jump a line when sober, but doesn't mind taking a shot after they've had a few.

All that said, I think you'd have to ban tents (or at least inspect them) to truly eliminate the alcohol. And you'd have to have a hard ban - anyone caught with open container gets kicked out of line.

I’m seeing people trading hennas for prop 1:1 - yet to try either but this doesn’t make sense to me.

I think those are the 2 biggest, and easiest solutions. If you eliminate tents and drinking, a lot of the the problems go away.

    Line drinking is eliminated.

The only way for Binnys to handle it any better is to ban lining up untill 1 hour before the release. OR to move it to an online reservation like how Total Wine handles Pappy and BTAC.

What really needs to happen in GI doing the release themselves and cutting binnys out.

What doesnt make sense to you about it? I personally dont know why anyone would give up a henns for a single prop but thats their choice.
