Local to me is any brewery I can get to in under 45 minutes. RD would be twenty minutes if there was a straight shot, and I didn't have to go through Washingtonville, but I usually get there in about 35 minutes. I think if I lived in a city, (or town for that matter lol) I would think closer than that. And yeah it is the local brewery I visit most frequently and whose beers I have enjoyed best through the years since it opened.

Couldn't help noticing your local isn't even in your home state

Kane. Head High, Overhead, and Sneakbox. All 3 are excellent hoppy beers. Kane's output is pretty diverse generally but the ones they have in cans most of the time are these 3.

It's less than a 5k's run to Hoppin Frog's taproom for me. It's always amazed me how they can put out big, bold stouts year-round, while other breweries act like there's such a thing called "stout season"

That's living in the borderlands for ya .

Apparently there's a place in Yonkers, right across the Hudson from me. It's pretty close as the crow flies, but I ain't no crow. And I don't usually see their beers on taps or shelves.

The other two are each in that 20 minute range, so that's as close as I can get.

I have breweries closer than RD. Yard Owl, Bacchus, Newburgh, Hudson Aleworks, Gilded Otter, Plan Bee, Millhouse, and Rough Cut are all closer, but I admit that when I want to hit a local brewery it's RD for me nine times out of ten because I love their beer and I love Dan and Nikki.

Of the 6 around here, not sure if "flagship" fits, but closest are :
The Farmhouse : Crazy Daisy - Belgian Tripel
    Galaxy : Andromeda IPA
    Water Street : ???
Binghamton Brewing : Citra Pale Ale
Beer Tree : Tree Light (4% session ale) & Coffee Brown - just opened - those are the only constants , so far
The North : They list 10. Narrow it down? Cerberus , a 7.8% oatmeal milk stout, & God Complex (occasional) , a 9% hazelnut mocha chile stout.

Off the top of my head, these were their "flagships" at time of open:

O'Connor (back in the starting days they were all about the nautical theme):
    Red Nun Red Ale
    Green Can Golden Ale
    Norfolk Canyon Pale
Great Dismal Black IPA <-- THIS!!!

Then the theme went off the rails, and they've added to their all-the-time flagships:
    El Guapo Agave IPA
ODIS (O Connor Dry Irish Stout)
    R+R Lager

    Smartmouth
Alter Ego Saison (first canned saison in the state, I believe)
    Rule G IPA
    Murphy's Law Amber

and since then they've added to the flagship all-the-time lineup
    Notch 9 DIPA <-- THIS!!!
    Safety Dance Pilsner

The closest is Horseheads, but they don't really have one flagship beer. Upstate is second closest, with Common Sense as their flagship beer. Less than an hour away is Ithaca, whose flagship beer is Flower Power IPA--which is superb.

That's funny, I was actually going to quote yours. I love me some Coastal Evacuation. Going down this Summer for a week for a wedding there. Should be fun. Plan to go to the brewery . . . hopefully.

Yes, Crimson Pistil was done very well. Props to the brewers there.

I have no idea what brewery you are talking about! The local brew pub (Trap Rock) has a flagship Ghost Pony Lager a Helles Lager.

    Devil's Backbone Vienna Lager.

You could probably make an argument for the Eight Point IPA also counting since it's a year-round beer and available all over the place in stores (and the only other beer besides Vienna Lager to be sold in the individual 16-ounce cans), but it's the Vienna Lager that you find on tap basically everywhere within a 50-mile radius.

    Let's see...

    Rhinegeist - Truth (IPA)
Madtree - PsycHopathy (IPA) and Happy Amber (Amber Ale)
Braxton - Storm (Cream Ale...a tasty one at that)
Urban Artifact - Finn (Berlinner Weisse)
Christian Moerlein - Over The Rhine Ale (English Pale Ale)

Since we are in a suburb north of Cincy, Dayton metro is fairly close and feels local...

Warped Wing - Ermal's (Cream Ale)
Yellow Springs - Captain Stardust (Saison)

Neshaminy Creek I can almost walk to.

I guess the flagships would be

Shape of hops to come DIPA
    County line IPA
    Cream Ale

    All are very good.

    Enjoy

Capital Brewery in Madison is closest to me, they have a really good amber ale although it think they consider their flagship to be Island Wheat. The IPA is just so so but the Blonde Dopplebock will blow your head off.

    Ha!

You know - I've never actually made it to Trap Rock. I know the Huntley has them on their menu (I think the only other place I've seen it is the Tabor Road Tavern?). Ghost Pony is definitely the one that comes to mind when I think Trap Rock :grinning:

I think Twin Elephant is still a little more local for me!

Around here they all brew the same lineup, Pale Ale, IPA, Stout, Gose, Saison, with varying levels of success, and call whatever sells best flagship.

Bearded Iris: Homestyle (IPA), possibly also Scatterbrain.
Southern Grist: don't really know what would be considered their flagship, maybe Nashville Mule (Wild Ale)? It's always on tap it seems. That or their Mixed Greens series (NEIPA).
Yazoo: Sue (imperial baltic porter) or Dos Perros (brown ale)

Interesting to hear that Fist City has overtaken Anti-Hero since we moved.
