I saw a stack on the south side, $14.00 per. No way I'm paying that. Gotta find dat stack at $12.00 per even if it takes me all week.

Anyone know of any regular in southwest suburbs? My sister asked me to get a couple if possible for her husband for Christmas when they come in. She had no luck in DC I guess. Thanks

Kenwood Liquors in Homer Glen and CD Liquors in Tinley Park both had regular and barleywine at normal prices as of Monday. You may want to call ahead just to be sure. Also, the Kenwood Liquors in Oak Lawn had lots of regular and barleywine.

And by load up you mean haven't been able to find any? You do understand why Prop is only available in Chicago? I can't wait until Pittsburgh and Toronto get their own versions of Prop to pull away some of these yahoos.

This. There was already a similar debate with Prop Day ("Prop Day should be for Chicago/IL people only" vs. "Prop Day is the only day for non-Chicago people to get drink Prop"), but this is starting to sound kind of entitled. I have no issue with non-Chicago people coming in for the beer, but it is explicitly made for us. And given how this thread has been going, it doesn't sound like there's a lot of loading up on Prop in general; I was shut out 2 years back, and it's looking likely that that'll happen again this year (I don't particularly care; it's more of a comment on how difficult it always is to get Prop). I'm not begrudging out-of-towners their beer, but I'm also not going to sit here and pretend that I think they've got equal claim on a beer that stays out of general distribution for a reason.

I drank a shitload of 312 and Honkers in 2005-07 when I lived in North Center. That grants me at least 4-5 Props over the years.

If you guys are just looking for regular, patience is a virtue. It's been so readily available the past couple years throughout December. As long as you visit some Binny's, Jewel, Whole Foods or other shop semi-frequently over the next few weeks, I'm pretty sure you will find it.

As I mentioned upthread, Park West on Lincoln had Regular still - probably about 7 or so cases left. It was priced at $12.99, which may be a $1-2 higher than you're looking for, but if you can't stand to wait for a 2nd drop in December, then maybe paying that price is the way to go.

I assume any Chicagoland residents who are concerned about out of towners coming in to buy Prop/etc.. are willing to sign some sort of contract forbidding their attendance at bottle releases outside of the area?

We all know it takes effort to get limited beer. The "out of towners" debate is silly when it pertains to "FIBs" taking the beer in WI and it's silly when it pertains to WI/MI/IN/wherever residents going to Chicago to buy Prop.

Frankly, I'd much rather attend local stuff, so this sounds like a dream to me.

(but no, if this comment was directed towards me, I don't actually give a shit)
I don't think it's worth worrying about a buck or two when a limited beer is involved. Is saving $1 worth the chance that you won't get any more BCS? If so, save it. But a $2 upcharge is pretty decent these days, given that I've seen places with regular in the 20s in the past.

lol at Chicago beer fans getting mad at out of towners at a beer release. The same people who descend like locusts onto St Louis and small towns in WI and MI all of a sudden don't want to play the game.

Overall I had great luck this year, which will definately mean I'll have shitty luck next year.

Won prop day tickets, so my gf and I both got an allocation, and got try everything. Coffee was my favorite, and northwoods was my least. Of course it was her favorite, so I had to get at least one bottle.

I had every intention of sleeping a little later on bf, because I didn't need another prop or reserve, but I woke up at 3:30 wide awake and decided to go to the oak brook binny's, which is where I've been going the last three years. Showed up about 4:30 and ended up being 8th. In years past I was much further back at around the same time. Not sure if people went to LP or were hopping to jewels before binny's opened. So I was able to get a full allocation from binny's.

Then I got my choice of northwoods or coffee at Sal's (Coffee duh), and at that point I gotten enough and decided to skip Ardmore's annual event.

Next year I'll be screwed as I won't win prop day, and everyone will descend upon oak brook binny's. Oh well, that's the fun in this hobby.

In my head I imagine a SNL-type commercial-skit with an over the top Indian owner touting how cheap cheap his liquor is in the most stereotypical accent. -With two of those big wind-people that fall down and stand up repeatedly.

(I mean no disrespect, this just seems humorous to me).

Kind of late to comment to this but I was going to say that in some ways I find the buy x to get y far more palatable than the huge markups if the y is priced at or very close to MSRP. Then I'm paying a markup but getting some beer for it rather than just paying a huge markup. I generally can find something to buy for x that I'll drink.

Unrelated - holy cow this thread is entertaining ... I hadn't read it in a few days and wow ... This is just beer we're all talking about right?
