So Kentucky Bastard will be in 500ml bottles this year. Good news, right? Not so much. It'll only be a dollar less than last year which was 750ml.

They're playing with fire. I realize BBA beers are not cheap to produce or age, but with all of the reasonably-priced, top notch American stuff that we've been getting over the past few years this seems like an extra-stupid time to start hitting products with the shrink ray.

I mean Dragon's Milk is only like 10 bucks a bomber. Founders isn't all that cheap but 7-9 bucks for KBS and CBS is a god damn steal compared to 15 bucks a pint for Kentucky Bastard. I could buy a 4-pack of Founders Breakfast Stout for that!

They've been raising their prices non-stop and messing with formats to bring up the price per ml up. I stopped buying a while ago.

I'd love to know where you heard this from. It was $15.95 last year, and it will be $12.95 this year in Ontario. So 3 bucks cheaper, not a dollar cheaper.

It will be $12.95 a bottle, not 15 bucks. Not sure where that price info came from, but it's wrong. Trust me

    Quoted from someone else:

"The latest LCBO Food & Drink magazine featured KB and listed it at $14.95 for the 500ml version."

That said, I hope you're right.

Pricing last year at 15.95$ for 750 ml would put a price of 10.63$ for 500 ml (not a pint; 568 ml). If the price is now 12.95 that is jump of 18%. That's is ridiculous and I called them on the "lovely" gesture of making every drop go farther for more people to experience and then saying; "anyone notice they didn't say the price?" Nickelbrook makes some good beers but honestly there are beer out there similar in quality for less. I remeber when BB was of 9.95 for a 4 pack of 355ml bottles and then came back the next year at 4.50 for a 473 ml can. RIDICULOUS. I will pass on this.

I also remember when this happened. Someone who worked for NB at the time mentioned (either here or on BarTowel, I forget where) that they were not making any money by selling BB at 9.95 per 4-pack. Which is believable, because that is a ridiculously cheap price for an imperial stout.

That being said, I barely ever buy BB these days because $4.50 is just too much to spend on a tallboy. Maybe like once every other month, I'll splurge on it if I'm really craving an RIS.

As for KB, maybe I'll buy a bottle this year, but maybe not. We'll see. There's still at least one bottle from last year's run sitting in my cellar anyway.

Exactly. I find their message very disingenuous. I don't see why they can't keep BB at that price if DDC can keep Péché. But even if they do rise, don't come up with some jazzed up reason why you do it, and don't try to squeeze the consumer for more every time you release it. My opinion anyway.

I have the same issue with Nickel brook lately. Prices are rising (and seem to be rising faster than compared with other local breweries). Bolshevik Bastard is a fine imperial stout, but when Wellington has their imperial stout sitting next to it and it's a dollar cheaper, that's hard to pass up.

Immodest was the other one that drove me nuts. Spring of 2016 paying $5 a tallboy for less than a week old delicious IPA at 9.5%. Steep, but worth it in my eyes given how tasty it was. This year couldn't find anything in local LCBO's (which are the closest LCBO's to Nickel Brook ironically) less than 6 weeks. Also price up to $5.50 and even the ABV went down. It tasted good (but down half a notch due to freshness, recipe change, whatever) but I sure bought a lot less this year than in 2016.

Looks like Dec 13 is launch at Summerhill LCBO and on rest of shelves on 14th. I'm actually heading down to Grand Rapids Friday to pick up my 2 bottles there. Hopefully be able to try it on tap and report.

Confirmed that tons of BCBS is still sitting on the shelves in Tampa Bay. You could buy cases for $10 a bottle.

Yea that's what I've been hearing from a bunch of friends. Shelves full at Publix and other places. Had them pick me up about 10 bottles.
All I've seen is hate this year from all the "beer experts" on social media for Goose Island/ Budweiser. I don't think its been good for them since 2015.

CBS showing stock in Ottawa-Vanier today. Not sure how reliable that is but seems the numbers have started to roll out.
