As far as I can remember it's kind of always been that way. You end up paying a few more dollars in the wild versus the Brewery release where they're putting all that money in the coffers.

That being said I usually had only seen a buck or two variance on the bomber pricing. I guess more ounces more money.

One of the reasons I go to the brewery releases, more bang for your buck. That way I can use the money I saved on tap pours. Lol

Yeah I’d really love to grab some at Binnys. Seems most small shops are breaking up the sixer in the southwest burbs

Oh, and it doesn’t suck. Maybe not as good as High Westified but at that price holy crap. Freakin’ awesome BA stout at everyday prices. Lagunitas really making it hard to justify some of the stuff that costs 3x - 5x per ounce. When 2 sixers of this are less than one bottle of CBS .....

The 4th could be a mystery from all the BA classics and could include small batches

I wish some of these big BA stout brewers would release outside of stout season. With all the viable competition I predict some will have to start doing it- zig when everyone else zags. Most of this stuff is being aged 6 months by the consumer anyway....

The problem is who wants to buy a BA stout when its 90+ degrees out ... Just like who wants to buy a tropical IPA when its 29 degrees out ... Certain styles just sell better at certain times.

Totally agree with this - as well everyone should recognize that as fact.

Still, I am surprised that there are so few BA stouts available when Pumpkin beers are being released. I feel like If a Pumpkin beer came out, someone should have released a BA stout.

I get hop fatigue in the summer nights sometimes. That’s when pulling a 12oz KBS out of the cellar comes in handy.

Not saying you’re wrong, but I have no idea what percentage of people age a BA Stout. I feel confident that the percentage is higher here on BA than in the total landscape. When I look at early Untappd checking, there are plenty of bottles being opened.

So if BCBS Black Friday happened on July 3rd we'd have a bunch of shelf turding BA stouts? This weather stuff is a dated fallacy. You don't have to drink it in the summer. Tropical IPA don't hold up for 6 months so that makes sense, but BA stouts where people load up on as much as they can buy is being done because they age them? Hell, maybe releasing BA stouts in the summer will cut down on hoarding.

I keep my place pretty cold in the summer and still NEVER want a stout. I didn't start getting excited for this shit until at least midway through October, maybe later.

But Goose Island doesn't need to and isn't going to "zag" while everyone else "zigs". They are the reason Black Friday is a thing for BA stouts. For what you are suggesting it would probably be a Hailstorm type place releasing a BA lineup and then yes, I think it would sell slower than if they release around this time of year. Maybe it would be a shelf turd (not a fan of that term), but its not flying off the shelf in 90 degree weather.
