Pretty sure it was her family that had the cash and that it wasn't "luck" as much as it was establishing AB connections while she working for Oskar Blues.

As stated my girlfriend says females do this thing apparently where they kind of seem uninterested yet flirty at the same time lol i have no clue but she says the woman in the show does that speaking almost everybody of the male gender on the show and she finds it unappealing not my words, hers. I find her unappealing because to me shes just straight up boring

Did anyone watch the Detroit episode? It was unusual in that it only featured two different beers instead of the usual three. But especially odd was how reluctant the father on the winning team seemed at being chosen to go forward. There's a story there, I'm sure of it. Anyone notice if he was wearing an ankle bracelet or anything?

Also, there was a fancy Golden Road commercial in there. Very slick and well produced. Interesting to see what AB-Inbev's marketing machine can do with a former craft brand.

The Vice Munchies videos Craftwerks was so much better at diving into breweries and giving the viewer interesting information. Was hoping Beerland would be similar to this..

Anecdote about her: Back when AB's The High End had people working for it, there was a meeting in Chicago, at Goose Island in the middle of winter. Meeting was held in the barrel room, so it was brisk. They gave out these nice jackets for everyone (400+ AB employees). Meg wore this giant fur coat and complained the whole time about how cold it was and how she didn't want to be there.

Who wears a fur coat to a meeting? Anyway, I thought it was super weird and that she was incredibly awkward.

I noticed at the end of the show that there was an "In Memoriam" notice with a man's name which I though was also the name of the father in that brewing team, but I won't swear to that being the same person. Could have been someone on the filming crew, etc.

The In Memoriam notice was for Darrell "Doc" Mullins, the father of one of the coffee shop owner brewing team members. Meg Gill spoke to him at the picnic table outside of the coffee shop.

If they’ed just drop Meg as the host and replace her with Matty Matheson or 2 Chainz the show would become watchable,

Hell no I'm not giving this show another chance.

I absolutely agree with both of you. I'd elaborate further but last time I commented about my love of Three Sheets (last seasons thread) my comment, along with other Pleepleus lovers, was quickly deleted for being "off-topic"

I watched the last episode but I can't remember which beer won. Was it the peach hefe or the mango beer that used some sea water in the brewing? Both sounded like good beers that I'd like to try, but if it was the peach hefe that won, I'd only be surprised because the brewer does not seem like the kind of person who would be into craft beers, let alone to be brewing them.

Yeah not sure WTF went on there. I think if you took all the beers that were in the competition and said which of these beers isn't being done, but would probably draw some interest if it was brewed, I think you get a Habenero, Blueberry Mango beer.... I find it funny because the beer didn't come across how they wanted it, i.e. missing the mango punch, but I guess they figure they can fix that.

That beer, honestly was the last one I thought would win, due to the ownership of that Golden Road, and the pepper adjunct. Maybe they saw gimmick potential in the sea water aspect (being in L.A.). That peach hefe seemed to fit their portfolio more.

Ah, so I did some research and found out a bit more about Meg, because she bugged the crap out of me, too. To me, she screamed "dope-addled Malibu trustafarian Phish acid casualty" whose daddy sugar-pimped her into a brewery to give her something "cool" to do.

Turns out that's not true—she grew up in what appears to be a middle-class Virginia town and went to Yale on a swimming scholarship, and was actually quite competitive. So in that sense, she's self-made.

On the beer end, though, it's always been about the business—there was never anything "grass roots" or "micro" about Golden Road. She—somehow—started as a brand manager with Oskar Blue before moving on to Speakeasy in SF and more or less taking over the brand. While working to buy out Speakeasy, she determined that there was a brand and distribution gap in LA—investors and distributors needed a local brand to move. So basically, she got the investors, distribution, marketing strategy, and packaging put in place and then came up with something to fill the cans. So while she might not admit it, the InBev takeover was obviously the plan, not a happy coincidence.

The one "ah-ha!" moment was what might be the explanation for her odd demeanor and strange gait. Again, I always assumed that she was just a rich hippie acid casualty. It turns out that she was in a serious car accident near Lake Tahoe around 2010 and suffered a major brain injury, which I think might be what's affecting her speech and motor skills.

So while she's obviously a hardworking, savvy, largely self-made business person, it's also obvious that beer is a product for her, not a passion. It's definitely about the business, not the beer.

The show just sucks. Hard to watch. Slow motion this or that. No real depth beyond "oh I drink beer." I feel as if the series is stagnat hipster bullshit. Dull. Bare minimum and even then they do nothing to immerse you in the world of beer.

My favorite moment from this season was at the end of the Detroit episode when she approaches the father son team and tells them "You won", and they react by saying 'We won what?"..haha it's super awkward.
