I enjoyed both beers, but if I had to choose I would go for Glissade. A very good example of an underrepresented style

I liked Glissade. It was kind of like a "Pils bock." Pretty unique and tasty, too.

Very happy to have Ruthless over Glissade. Especially with no Noble Pilsner.

I enjoyed Glissade, but would always choose Ruthless Rye over it.

I always like a good bock, but Glissade just didn't do it for me (though I really liked the name). I think Ruthless was a good replacement and really solidifies Sierras seasonal rotation. They're now one of the few breweries that I won't skip a season on because all 4 are really solid and cover a nice variety of styles. Add in some of the other annual releases like Bigfoot, and it's easy to see where a lot of my beer money is going.

I'm not a fan of either.

I'd actually prefer the old spring ESB.

Ruthless Rye did have some tasty, tasty notes to it. It also seemed fresher to me for some reason. Maybe the fact that it got popular really quick and was ordered a little more frequently. I loved the Ruthless Rye and can't wait til next year to get it again. I also cannot wait to here more about this new hop that was used. I also think it was created by Sierra (the hop).

Ruthless Rye is year round? I thought it was just seasonal?

Prediction: Ruthless gets dropped in 2013.

    Your prediction already looks wrong...

"The main hop character in Ruthless for example is an experimental variety as well. Ruthless was a blockbuster for us this year so we're going to work on making sure that hop stays in production."

New intros always get a boost from the intro factor. Bill also said that Glissade did very well on year one, and not that it declined in year 2, but that it simply did not grow.

According to the SN web site it's seasonal. And we just ruined Max12's day.

I'd actually go with Glissade, although I can take it or leave it. Ruthless Rye is really nothing special, especially compared to Torpedo and Celebration.

They should try something new, like a Belgian IPA..

I like them both and wish they could fit both into their rotation. If I had my way though I'd bring back the Pale Bock in place of Glissade.

Ruthless Rye all the way. I thought Glissade was just ok.
