Chicagoland NE IPAs (2018)

Anybody have info on Green Ghost hops (I assume it's a hop). I googled it but didn't find anything

 

Shit. Cryo.

 

I had Pipeworks Cryo Cascade & didn't care for it. Had a strange flavor to it. Hard to pinpoint exaclty what it was, that was my first cryo hop beer

 

I have an extra 4-pack if you missed out.

 

There's something...artificial to the cryo hops. I, too, can't quite put my finger on it.

 

Drinking a 1/16 Stratus right now. I want to really like it but it has a dry, almost soapy lingering finish. Looks and smells great. Maybe just too green? I dunno...

 

Nooooo I was really hoping for good reviews.

 

I'm still enjoying it! It's good just need to have a glass of water afterwards. It made me super thirsty. I will revisit the next can in a week and see if the finish has changed.

 

Where did you find it, there is a small amount this round cause of a canning malfunction from the brewery on this run

 

Damn, didn't know about the canning malfunction. Is that what is causing the odd finish?
I got this yesterday at the Craft Beer Store in Libertyville.

 

Stopped by the Maplewood Lounge and had JP7 on draft before picking up a bottle. My first JP so I can't compare to previous batches but they nailed the mouthfeel and appearance. Kinda hard to distinguish flavors cause the beer seems pretty green still but there was a lot of bitterness.

 

Found a new Chicagoland example: Prairie Kraft Brews "Paper Wings". Found at Binny's.

They seem to be skirting a lawsuit with the brewery name.

I'll probably crack one or two tonight at a share, I'll post my thoughts tomorrow.

 

when I bought one (maybe 6 months ago) it was in a bomber. poured crystal clear. reminded me a little of fresh lagunitas ipa. was somewhat disappointed, though overall it wasnt a bad beer

 

Picked some up and would agree with your assessment. It is still much closer to the beer it used to be a year ago and you can’t beat the pricing.

Anyone try FFF's Backhanded Panther? Described by them as 'A superfruity hazy IPA hopped entirely with Australian hops.' Sure sounds like it could be an NE IPA style brew but I haven't had it.

 

I had The Juice Beyond at Corridor yesterday. I thought it was fantastic, probably the best I’ve had from them and one of the best in Chicagoland.
