Mozee is a winner. TG's pales and ipas now fresh and accessible are totally cutting into my local NEIPA purchases....

Not NE style IMO but Mozzee is tasty. But at $10 for a 5.5% beer I’d like to be a little more impressed. Too many other options at a much lower price point...

Definitely NE in appearance. It’s got some bittnerness but I don’t think that’s disqualifying. I hear what you’re saying though. I am not sure Mosaic and Nelson are the best pair but it is definitely interesting

Just had Fire Skulls and Money from November bottling since the GF failed to check the date stamp when she picked it up in WI this weekend. Can't believe how good this beer is for being 2+ months old....Tropical fruit and pillowy feel with just the perfect balance of bitterness on the back end.

If your ass has that much suspended yeast in it, you're gonna have a bad time!

Mine looked exactly like that. I'm back to holding off on Pseudo cans until they dial it back in.

I had my last one yesterday night and it was still fantastic! All of them were and I probably drank each can about a week apart..... It's a shame the new cans showing up aren't the same because it was going to be a staple for me. It reminded me of that great batch of Born Yesterday Lagunitas brewed a year or two ago that was hazy, except all citra goodness.

The new cans are fine. They are dirty looking but taste great.

That's good to know...I'll probably pick some up to find out. Someone above said it's not the beer he had a few weeks back which is why I am prepared to be disappointed. The cans I bought around Xmas we're the best version of PS I've ever had.

    Yes.

This is what it looked liked just before new years weekend
    [IMG]

and then what i just bought yesterday looked like
    [IMG]

and they do taste different. the old one tasted very new englandy. strong hop flavors and that oily softness. the new one tasted like a half ass zombie dust clone. still not terrible, still tastes like citra, but definitely not the same

Agree completely here. It does taste different. More recent cans have seemed much more on the malty side for me. Definitely not that nice hop bite it had before.

    Malty? Lol

The word malty gets used way too much. Let me guess, you think two hearted and anti hero are malty too?

I guess I fall into that trap too. What's the word we're looking for?

Beers like that have malt presence. But the predominant feature is still hops. I’ve started listing beers like this as “classic” or “traditional”.

A malty ipa, to me, is something like Velvet Habiteen from Ale Asylum. The only “malty” ipa I like. Shorts seems to always gave s super bready malt character to their IPAs too. Even when super fresh. There aren’t a lot of malt driven IPAs today. Especially in Chicago. And for good reason.

Daisy Cutter, Cozmo, SNPA are all classic pale ales. Just because you can taste a little malt doesn’t mean the beer is “malty”, because I can still taste plenty of hops to, which makes those beers balanced.

The beer scene is producing unbalanced, super hop driven beers with practically no malt presence and it’s skewimg our perception of what malty is.

Sorry for the long winded response

I have a different baseline for balance.
I find anti hero and two hearted to be malty.

    Always willing to discuss.

What’s your favorite example of a balanced IPA?
