Chicagoland NE IPAs (2018)

Has anyone seen newer than 1/8? Not sure how often Chicago gets new batches of this.

 

As it good as it gets lately. Until very recently, 12/7 was the other date code I was seeing. They changed distributors so it’s too early to identify a pattern

 

Picked up a four pack dated 1/18/18 at Binny's Logan Square on Saturday. Had been quite a while since I had it and the $9.99 price was right.

 

Does hopbutcher sell any of their beer from miskatonic? I live very close but haven't been since they moved into miskatonic space.

Edit: if you are wondering I'm not the biggest fan of miskatonic tap choices, catchpennny is good but the others haven't grabbed me

 

No, they do not.

 

No they don’t. They drop off at Prestige right up the road. Usually right after canning.

Last comment on this, but just went to Portage Park and found 1/25. So it appears that we might be seeing frequent distro of new batches, at least over certain periods.

As to the beer, this might be the worst Todd I've ever had. When I first had it on tap it in MN years ago, it was by far one of the best new beers I'd had at the time. Then they canned it, and I thought it was a step below what I'd had on tap at the source, but still solid. Over time, it just wasn't something worth $18 a 4 pack. Now, whatever this is, is not worth $10 a 4 pack.

 

Drinking a 1/8/18 right now. Haven't had it in a while and jumped on the 9.99 price tag. Drank fine last week and now the hops have died in this beer already. Have that stale hop 3 month taste to it. They (Surly) knew what they were doing when they switched distro and charged 9.99 for an otherwise 16.99 4pk

 

For some reason the Todd pricepoint has never sat well with me. Even though I used to buy it now and then, I always felt they were gouging on the hype a little bit. Gives me a little chuckle to see them put it on the discount rack.

 

Whatever we may think of Todd, it surely doesn't belong in this thread.

New batch Squeeze it OG is super impressive. I hadn’t had anything since that Mikerphone collab.

If you live near Corridor, and you’re trading their beer for other IPAs, you’re wasting your money.

If you're trading good beer to try other good beer you're wasting your money? So by your logic no one who has access to good beer should trade at all? Silly.
