The only thing that perplexes me more than Bruery not being able to fulfill beer pick ups efficiently is the amount of ass-kissing support you guys give in this regard. Wouldn't you be interested in a better system?

No apologist here, just realistic. If you want immediate access to any order, it'll come with tradeoffs: more staff (costs go up), fewer beers (easier to find your order), shorter pickup windows (no thanks), etc.

In short, it's silly to complain about rules that are known prior to signing up for the membership. And in most cases they've fulfilled my requests the same day, including multi-case orders.

Everyone in here keeps saying the system works fine for them, or they at least understand why it is a certain way. If that’s everyone’s opinion, they are not ass-kissers just because they don’t agree with your opinion that the system is broken.

If the system is working well enough for a vast majority in here, this seems like a you problem. Businesses literally cannot make all customers happy.

This comment, like most in here, doesn't do much to explain why 5 hours isn't enough time for 3 employees to fill 4 boxes of beer

And once again you somehow assume those 3 employees don’t have 100 other boxes to fill from all the customers who emailed 24 hours in advance.

This has already been explained to you dude. It's because they would need to have employees standing by in the warehouses--for precisely this task, which wouldn't happen every (most?) day--to get your beers down and packed up. They would also need employees driving between the warehouses to pick these up as they got ready. And they don't. You then say "But they should". Regardless of what you feel they should do, they have gone with a method of getting beers packed and sent from the warehouses in the morning (before noon) every day, and not afterwards. They even advertised this as an explicit condition of the membership. That's why.

And yes, changing to your suggested "Just do it in five hours when I show up" system would be a massive change in how they employ man-hours, which would probably lead to an increase in costs. And such a system wouldn't, in the end, help many people I expect; I would bet the average time in the tasting room is less than 2 hours, so unless they could get the time down below that (unlikely), most members wouldn't benefit from a shift to needing 5 hours advance warning. So this would just be an increase in cost for no reason for most members.

(I hope I don't seem to be just disregarding your point. I recognize it, and respect it/you. The internet can sometimes make that hard to convey).

In case anyone's wondering they're almost caught up with shipping, they're getting boxes out in 5 days now not 2 weeks like it's been at for awhile.

Apologies if this has been asked before but I’m on my phone and I’m too stupid to be able to search for it.

Is the 2018 Hoarders glass just a regular quality glass? Recent years’ glasses have been high quality and very thin but this one is thick and heavy and has a big seam where the two halves come together. It just doesn’t seem to measure up to last year’s.

Anyone opened a 2017 Port BT recently? Opened one on Sunday, heavy metal. Straight down the drain.

I say email them now and say your coming, even if you aren’t. Then it can sit there waiting for you eventually show. There is no rule about not showing. Maybe this will make them have a more efficient system. I understand that sucks for The Bruery but now you are at least playing by the rules.

As long as he picks it up within a week or it will be unpacked.

Now I don't know if you're just being stubborn, combative, stupid, or willfully ignorant. Or some combination of the four.

    Was of time. Moving on....

EDIT: InfiniteJester's response above is no doubt more diplomatic, gracious, and eloquent than this. Go re-read his latest explanation again and again until it sinks in. If it never does, just chalk it up as one of those unfathomable mysteries of life and try not to let it bother you. It's just beer.

My friend just opened up a bottle last night, was fine. What was wrong with your bottle? Not sure what heavy metal means?

Tasted metallic/oxidized. Did not get any of the expected sweetness from the port barrel. Did you?

My one true wish is to have such a fulfilling, exciting, and unpredictable life that I can't be assed to send a simple email just a day in advance to pick up an order.

Sorry to hear, that's the first I've heard of this bottle. Hopefully it was an anomaly.

I was not at my friends, so I didn't try it. Though he did not have any metallic/oxidized notes.

For what it’s worth, when I made my trip a week or two ago, there were 3 people in the fulfillment center and none of them were just sitting around. One guy just finished going over an order with someone to make sure everything was there, and immediately helped me afterwards, another was checking off invoices of an 8 case order that someone was wheeling out as I was walking in, and the last guy was walking back and forth from the back with a clipboard, so I’m assuming he was the guy putting together the orders. My pick up went extremely smooth and they seemed to have a good system going. The only wrench seemed to be a guy walking in asking if he could pick up his order but didn’t email beforehand. Lol. Again, I’m sure they’re not always busy, but you can’t just assume that they’re always just sitting around.

Also, I think the Costco reference was in regards to the size of their warehouse, not how they operate. Costco is set up for people to come in and buy products off the shelf immediately. If people were ordering things but not picking them up for 6, 8, or 10 months at a time, I’m sure you wouldn’t be able to just walk in, grab your stuff, and leave.
