It is kid and dog friendly. On ND Football weekends it is pretty busy, but, a lot of that is carry out cans/growlers. Sundays it is hit or miss. Growlers are $5 off on Sundays, just a heads up.

I'm all over it if it's $10. I'll be on the look out for it. Thanks for the tip!

Can vouch for this. I mean it isn't a mind blowing game changing experience but for 10 bucks it is the epitome of grocery-store-grabber.

Transient should really discontinue JiL. $20 for a good beer is one thing, but $20 for a flavorless glass of simple syrup that they claim to load with tons of expensive hops should probably be submitted to the better business bureau. You can get much, much better NEIPAs in town for a lot less....

I never look at price but was surprised when I went to check out.

I thought it was good, but I like Hailstorm just as much, and I think they are quite a bit cheaper.

Will be in Chicago for the weekend and hoping to find somewhere where I can purchase cans of local NEIPAs, or at least enjoy some on draft. Any suggestions on a craft beer bar or liquor store to hit up? Unfortunately not staying downtown, conference I’m attending is near O’hare.

Saw hop butcher released Blazed Orange recently. And also 18th street released #2 pencil... Will either of those be available still?

Any limitations as far as transportation goes? I would say for liquor stores, Binnys Des Plaines would be the closest with the best selection. Mikerphone is pretty close by..... More and Noon Whistle are relatively close also. Not sure about 18th Street but I'm sure you could find some hop butcher around.

With the caveat that I don't know your transportation situation (though the Metra/L/Uber should be able to get you anywhere you want to go if you don't have a car):

Forbidden Root, Corridor, More, Mikerphone, and Dry Hop should be priorities (in that order, interchangeable on the first two, though).

Beer Temple, Beer Cellar, Bottles and Cans, and any Binny's should take care of take-home needs.

Best bars would be Fountainhead, Bad Apple, Beer Temple, Bar on Buena, Link's, Norse, Local Option, Hopleaf, Roger's Park Social, and Maria's are good bar options (though, again, transport will probably be an issue if you don't have a car).

Thanks for the detailed response. Looks like I can’t go wrong with the plethora of choices. Looking forward to hitting up a few of these places. Cheers.

Your best bet really would be to hit up Capone's followed by beer temple for four packs. Capone's still had Blazed Orange as of yesterday, always have plenty of 18th street, Over haze, and Transient. Binny's are so hit or miss imo.

Tried it last night and I was disappointed...thought the Sam Adams NE IPA was a little tastier for a mass produced option.

I can see that. I went in with no expectations, so I was pleasantly surprised. I haven't seen the Sam Adams NE IPA yet.

What about the Sierra Nevada option?

Excellent beer for the price. Super easy drinking. This will be such a refreshing warm weather beer. As you would expect it's not exactly an NEIPA but for $8.99 a sixer...ya can't go wrong.

Don't want to get your hopes up though. The Sam NEIPA is decent, but still well short of most accessible NEIPAs around here.

If you are talking about Hazy Little Thing, it didn't really check most of my boxes for what I'd call a NEIPA. For an unfiltered, lower bitterness, fruity, clean/crisp, regular IPA - sure, it was tasty.

I'd like to try Brewdog's Hazy Jane also, but don't really want to have to buy a mixed 12-pack to get it.
