In all honesty, that makes it even worse. Now we have people who don't even know what they're doing getting involved in the grey market because they see it as an opportunity to make lots of money. (Sarcastically)- I'm sure he'll keep those cold the entire time before he ships them out, which should be immediately, but probably won't be.

I still don't understand how that many beer drinkers have that level of disposable income.

Did the $100/bottle wine crowd cross over to beer? Did trust-funders give up on hookers and blow?

The beer/bourbon market is pretty insane right now for sure. I follow multiple groups mainly as a casual observer and the talk of secondary pricing in the hundreds and thousands for beer gets way out of hand. Everyone has a local brewery that puts out small batches and then it just escalates.

Valuing your time with a $ figure. If I can get a beer that tastes phenomenal but would require 4-5 hours of driving plus waiting, I would certainly pay extra to just have it delivered to me. Everyone's value of their time is different and that's what would drive the market. I'd probably pay $10-15 in gas and tolls to get to Tired Hands so I immediately am willing to pay $35 for a $20 four pack. That doesn't even factor in the value of my time.

I understand some people would just say I don't want to pay extra for beer so I'll drive to Kane and buy Overhead/Head High and be happy, but some people want to try more top tier beers.

Yeah I get it. I'm not one of those people that goes online and buys tons of beer at elevated levels. I'm normally the guy that walks in after the line dies down at OH or goes to Kane for some basics, etc.

But, I have never had a milkshake beer from Tired Hands. If I ever wanted to try one, paying up for it sounds much more appealing than waiting in line. I understand people might disagree with that.

For the secondary price they're going for, you're not missing anything at all. Hell, for the retail price they're going for nowadays, you're not missing much either.

I have to wonder why they didn't just call that Ice Cream Sandwich Milkshake IPA and call it a day. It seems to have all the qualities/ingredients of their Milkshake series. Maybe they didn't want Omnipolo taking their cut...

This is the first time I recall hearing about this. Is it true that every time that Tired Hands brews a Milkshake series beer they have to provide ‘royalties’ to Omnipolo?

    Cheers!

I am just assuming, but I suppose it's possible they worked out some kind of deal.

    Only difference is no lactose..

I mean, lactose seems like a pretty central component of the Milkshake series...

I suppose, but doesn't ice cream contain lactose?

I get what you are saying but, in most cases, if you were driving a good distance to get beer you wouldnt be just buying one 4-pack. So paying $35 per 4-pack for say 8-16 beers costs way more money than the gas/tolls scenario.

I was just basing my comment off of the other person's above saying that the only difference was no lactose; I have no idea whether this has lactose in it or not.

Astronaut ice cream ingredients has milk fat and sugar listed. That could be lactose but it's more likely sucrose.

Astronaut ice cream is not cheap. I think I paid $7.95 a pack at the Smithsonian.

This beer sounds like it could be amazing or very weird. TH seems pretty good at not making sugar bombs, though.

Milkshakes are brewed with oats and lactose sugar. This beer is brewed with wheat and astronaut ice cream sandwiches. Very similar, but different. I'd say the okay series was more of a riff on milkshakes because they were brewed with oats, lactose sugar, and a fruit. And people slept on that beer for sure!
