Don’t understand it. We get fresh bombers from TG but get shited on with their cans?

When I was in Binny's LP last week, they had "new" Pompeii (early March), but Sue was January.

Yeah the Sue freshness situation is concerning. Starting to see the January stacks just stay the same size at many places. Hopefully the March cans get spread wide to freshen up the supply

I actually just cracked one of those Pompeii cans from 03/06 and it is killer. Slightly hazy (definitely not turbid, but a haze to the glass for sure), not a lot of the floaters/sediment seen of the previous cans, aroma and taste were incredible. Really awesome.

100% agree. All of the March cans I've had are phenomenal. Sue, Pompeii, and Gnug. All were super hazy, and what I expect from the bombers of TG....

This gives me a good feeling about the King Sue cans dropping next month.

Not sure about the Chi town situation, but to give you reference La Crosse and Madison have only seen one Pompeii drop and currently to my last visit have Feb Sue. While a small hideout I regularly have my mother in law visit in NE IA before she comes up had fresh Pompeii, Sue, Gnug, Dorthy's, and Supa. I really believe it is out of TG's hands now and distributors are the one to blame for ordering to much of one release of a product for a better price...

This can't be an ongoing process, though...if stacks of old beer are piling up, they can't just keep giving us fresh ones, right? You'd think they would have to reduce supply some and funnel those cans to other areas, which could then make it harder to find the cans here. But, TG distribution has been quite a mystery, so who knows.

As an FYI, I had a couple cans of Pompeii in mid-March that were canned in late January, and they were tasting great. I actually still have one can from that batch that I will try out for science sometime this week. I'm not trying to advocate keeping old product around, but it's nice to know when something still has a certain freshness about it after 6-8 weeks.

Also, if “stacks” of Sue are sitting on a shelf one place, and fresh ones another, it’s quite possible place A needs to figure out it’s inventory situation.

Let's give the old Sue a break for now. Everyone was rushing out to buy Decorah Sue when it came out in January so TG, distributors and retail can be excused for buying too much if they thought that would be what the demand curve was...they'll get it straightened out as they see what the real demand is over the next couple of months.

Haven't been buying the cans but I've had a lot of drafts of PS around town. Always seems fresh enough.

I realize this may be a silly question at this point that I should have known already, but is it 100% confirmed that the kegs of Sue around here are from Decorah? I'm hoping they are, but I actually saw it on tap the other day and realized I really didn't know, and it kept me from ordering it.

I can only speak to the pours I had at Links a week or so ago but it was definitely inline with the Decorah cans I've had.

For those wondering about freshness of PseudoSue cans and how there seems to be a distribution issue causing old cans to be delivered to Chicgaoland, people have been complaining a bit that the cans they bought last weekend during the Assassin release at Toppling Goliath are dated 2/2. The few people that I know who purchased them figured that they would be as fresh as possible when purchasing at the brewery, but this apparently wasn't the case. So this might not be a phenomena unique just to Chicagoland.

selling 2 month old cans at the actual source? that's a peculiar tactic...

You could ask them on twitter, bet the response will be "IPAs are good for 6 months"

Yeah you're definitely right that they can't keep ordering beers if they aren't selling stacks. That's a Binny's buying issue combined with communicating with their distrubutor

Super Sumo dropped in the Orland area today. Pretty nice to be drinking Decorah IPA's about a week after being bottled.

I just checked the date on the PseudoSue cans I bought at TG during the Assassin release, and they are dates 3/23.
