    ...and???

I found a Galaxy DDH Sue today and popped it tonight. That was a delicious beer. They really can nail this style a lot of times.

...you didn't ask me, but Galaxy DDH Sue CRUSHES Scorpius. I was actually pretty disappointed in this one.

Earthy, tangy & bitter. I even got hints of...soy sauce? Yes I realize I'm not in the Dark Lord thread.

However, that Galaxy DDH Sue is a real treasure...

I agree with @GuyFawkes 100%, it's a good beer. It isn't Galaxy DDH Sue though, not by a long shot.

While I don't necessarily get soy sauce, I completely see what you are talking about on the backend. Not sure how I feel about this finish it's odd.

Thanks @GuyFawkes and @csmakio. I don’t need more beer at this point, so I might as well pass on it. Too bad these don’t pop up somewhere on draft to try out.

Bought 2 Scorpius and 1 Galaxy Sue. Sounds like I got my ratio backwards. Still, first time bottled for SM so I guess you gotta take the shot at it

I absolutely love Scorpius Morchella, probably more than Galaxy Sue. I bought two bottles and wish I had bought another one.

Preferences and all that, I did enjoy Scorpius. I'm a fan of the Galaxy/Nelson combo fwiw. And I liked it more than Galaxy Sue, which I found a bit muted in flavor and somewhat boring overall. The finish on Scorpius was noticeable to me as well but I did not have an issue with it. Someone above mentioned it having Amarillo in it as well and maybe this was asserting itself a bit on the finish? I dunno. I was fine with it.

Having said that, would I pay the equivalent of a $35 4pk (16oz) on a bomber of Scorpius again? Likely, no. Too many other better values in the IPA universe imo. I don't think this is one destined for cans by TG unfortunately. But I thought it was a good beer which I recommend trying if you can.

I felt the same way about the Galaxy Sue. It was easily my least favorite of the TG IPA bombers.

I see people mentioning "____ hops are in Scorpius" type posts and am wondering where this info is coming from. Drinking my one and only bottle now and am genuinely curious what's in it. My best guess is definitely Nelson + others but beyond that no idea. Can definitely taste the scorpions and morels as well...

I get what you all are saying about the finish. Seems to have the same or similar malt base as their other DIPAs but the hops give it a drying astringency I don't necessarily mind. If I had another bottle I'd leave it in the fridge a few weeks as I've always preferred my King Sue at about a month old (HERESY!).

I had a King Sue a few weeks ago that was close to 2 months old and it was phenomenal. Something to this maybe...

I saw that binnys is selling pseudo sue for 7.99ish a four pack. Has anyone seen a fresher canning date than the 3/29? Even properly stored thats pushing the limits. Called Binnys HP and they said they only stock fresh and that is what their canning date was:rolling_eyes:

My Binny's in STC had stacks of 3/29 yesterday so I passed.

My guess is they don't place an order for additional PseudoSue cans (or any of their other offerings) until they've depleted their supply to a certain level. I'm sure there's a Binny's employee on Beer Advocate that can correct me if my assumption is wrong.

But if my assumption is correct then I think the solution is simple: we all agree to buy TG cans from only one particular Binny's. This way we continue to deplete their supplies rapidly enough that they always end up having a fresh batch in stock. Yes yes, I know some of you will have to drive an hour+ to get a four pack of Pseudo Sue but if that's what it takes... well, that's what it takes. *shrug*

Or just make Sue cans a one off every quarter and move the bomber one offs to cans....

Again? Great beer but rather have fresh(at least within a month) Sue. Speaking of which I was at beer on the wall last week and saw Pompeii with a 5-7-18 date. Wtf!?

While I agree with you that fresher is better, packaging date isn’t the deciding factor of how good a beer is. I enjoyed a 4/17 Pompeii last night more than I enjoyed a 1.5 week old Wander On from saint errant.

Never said it was. Just prefer my Sue fresh-er than the 1 1/2 month or 2 month old Sue that keeps dropping around here. Btw the Sue in Wisconsin has a 4-15 date. Wtf is all I’m saying.
