Yahoo! I'm visiting RVA this weekend. Are cans lasting til Friday / Saturday?

On previous RVA visits, they haven't, but I've heard the hype has settled a bit.

Stoked I'll finally get to try Dirt Nap after having Dirt Dirt Nap Nap et al.

Fairly confident something will last until Friday. Would not even be surprised if everything lasts the week and probably still have stuff leftover from last week. It's going to be rainy the rest of the week so will keep more people away than normal as well. They should post availability Friday morning. The hype has definitely taken a break over the past few months. And that's not necessarily a bad thing. Lines have been fairly short (50 or so at most) on release days and one could almost pick which day to show up and get whatever they were hoping for.

I've seen posts on ZZQ and other food trucks at Veil but any recommendations on other good restaurants in the area where you can pick up food and bring into the Brewery? Any help is appreciated.

I recommend Stella's Grocery on the corner of Roseneath and Moore, in the Handcraft building right next to Vasen Brewing. Its not a restaurant, but more of a mini gourmet market with great prepared food. They have some pre-made options available, but they also have a good variety of subs, salads, and pitas that they make to order. The meatball sub (its not an italian meatball sub, more greek I guess) and the peruvian chicken sub are both awesome. I'm sure the others are too, but those are the only two I've had. Also get one of their homemade oatmeal creme pies near the checkout counter, they're incredible.

Thanks for posting. I know Dirt Nap is great but can anyone comment on Pain Killer and Alone? Have a friend making a stop for me as he is driving through Richmond and don't see much out there on those beers so am curious if they are worth picking up. Thanks in advance.

Alone is good. I haven't liked much of what the Veil has been brewing lately but I tried a pour of Alone and ended up buying some cans.

Tomorrow, Saturday June 9th will be the debut of STARVE: Exhibit A!

[IMG]STARVE is a new series of blended imperial stouts and/or barleywines aged in spirit barrels for various lengths of times to create a complex, one-off, incredible final blend. Sometimes they might be smaller blends, or experimentation with adjuncts, but this series will primarily showcase blended, barrel aged imperial stouts and/or barleywines. Each version will be labeled as an Exhibit “blank”. This particular blend clocks in at 13.2% and features a blend of 7x different spirit barrels containing 4x different brands aged for up to 19 months. 2x Laird’s barrels containing Unloved(our imperial oyster stout), 2x Buffalo Trace barrels containing a new imperial stout brand, 2x Maple Bourbon barrels from BLiS containing a maple imperial stout, and 1x Laird’s barrel containing Circle of Wolves(our English barleywine). Insane complexity and a beautiful full body on this one. Notes of Hershey’s milk chocolate, maple syrup drenched pancakes, fresh vanilla beans, caramel, subtle bourbon, toffee, melted brownies, and more!

    [IMG]➖There will be approx 1,900x 500ml bottles available. $17+tax each. 4x bottles person.⠀

[IMG]➖We will also have approx 40x 1.5L magnum bottles available. $60+tax each. 1x magnum per person.⠀

[IMG]➖For the first time EVER, we will be offering 3L bottles too! 6/12 Releases....
    _________________________
Umm Yea (DEBUT) is a fun new DIPA from us. Clocking in at 8%, this DIPA was hopped intensely with Citra, Citra Lupulin Powder, Galaxy, El Dorado, Amarillo, Mosaic, and Mosaic Lupulin Powder. Soft, tropical fruits, and virtually no bitterness makes this one a super easy drinker with such an awesome hop complexity.
    Shooting for approx 160-180x cases. $16.50+tax/4-pack. 2x cases/12x 4-packs per person.

Uncle Cousin3(cubed) (DEBUT) is the first triple dry-hopped triple IPA we’ve released. This beast clocks in at 11% is hopped intensely and exclusively with Mosaic. This is the ultimate Mosaic bomb.
    Shooting for approx 150-170x cases. $19.50+tax. 2x cases/12x 4-packs per person.

Never Never Last Last (DEBUT) - we straight up skipped the single fruited version and went straight to the double fruited version. Clocking in at 5.1%, this one is just straight up loaded with all the Concord Grape puree. Do y’all remember those rectangular, clear plastic freeze popsicles when you were younger(or still today )? This smells and tastes exactly like the grape jank. Literally drooling about this one as we type this out.
    Shooting for 180-200x cases. $22+tax/4-pack. 2x cases/12x 4-packs per person.⠀

Crucial Crucial Taunt Taunt is BACK after more than a year of hiatus. This is the double dry-hopped version of our house 8% DIPA Crucial Taunt.
    Shooting for approx 150-170x cases. $17+tax/4-pack. 2x cases/12x 4-packs person.⠀

Looks like I missed the 1st beer they announced for tomorrow. 5 cans this weekend. Another debut.....
    _______________________________
MVB is a new small batch lager designed by our Cellar Manager/Assistant Brewer Josh aka Jehou. Jehou spent some time in Australia a few years back and really dug all of the pub style lagers he had while he was there. Having a tough time finding those types of beers here in the states, he set out to try and replicate the beers he grew to love. This 5.4% unfiltered Aussie style lager is so good. [IMG] Slightly turbid appearance with a beautiful amber color with notes of bread and crackers, subtle caramel, wonderful light earthy hop character, nice effervescence, and just a sick crusher for those hot summer days. This beer is also the official beer of Logstradamus, one of the sickest surf fests in Virginia Beach. It kicks off this upcoming week, so make sure you check out their pages for more info on how you can drink this down in VB.
Shooting for approx 20x cases for the tasting room(draft will be available also) and will be sending the rest of the cans down to Logstradamus. $12+tax/4-pack. 2x cases/12x 4-packs per person limit.

I have not been to a Tuesday release lately but I think the lines are pretty tame these days (50ish or so at opening) and it moves pretty quick. If you were planning to check out some other places as well and not in a huge rush then you could always do those then show up at The Veil an hour or 2 after opening to very little wait most likely. Maybe check out Final Gravity, The Answer or Triple Crossing if you were planning to.

You'll wait 30 minutes for them to open and then maybe another 15 to get through the likely short line. Not a bad plan if you're trying to hit the road asap, but if you're trying to minimize your time in line do like Tom said and just wait 30-40 minutes after they open and there probably won't be any line. I would say there is no danger of anything selling out, but if you're trying to get Starve bottles left over from Saturday you probably should get there before they open. 3:30 should be good.

Starve is actually pretty damn good, I'd put it up there with the best non-wild BA beers they've done.

Yeah today's opening line might be slightly more substantial than the last month or so due to the few starve:ex A bottles left. And agree, this beer is fantastic.
