Unfortunately I think we do, or at least create/combine a thread of "Colorado Brewery Openings/Closings/Happenings".

So that's Powder Keg, Nighthawk and Caution that have all closed up shop this year?

Where else besides Edwards is/was Crazy Mountain? I had thought/assumed that was their main and only location. Not that I ever went to any of their locations to know...

They took over the old Breckenridge Brewery Kalamath location I believe.

Was it Crazy Mountain that also took over World of Beer on Colorado?

I thought it was the Belmar location, but upon a quick google looks like it's both!

When did Revolution close? That's the little one in Paonia, right? They were making pretty good stuff going back 7-8 years. My wife did her school rotations out there and it was the best brewery for like 100 miles in all directions.

Their Facebook thread says they are rebranding, refurbishing and reopening mid- to late-June.
The rebranding anyway is due to the Revolution Brewing in Chicago.

Not *exactly* new, but has anyone been down to Alternation Brewing on S. Broadway? Haven't heard much about it, but it looks like they have all the vegetarian food trucks congregating there which I'm about

Went to the new Odell in Rino this weekend.

Cool building with a nice upstairs and patio (patio has a separate entrance so get ready for dogs dogs dogs!). Taps are split down the middle with stuff only brewed on site and Odell mainstays. I had heard they'd be doing a lot of 'experimental' styles with the 10 barrel system but other than a experimental hop IPA didn't see anything too crazy. Worth checking out.

Just an FYI. I guess this is as good a place to post as any, but Caution is having their closing party today and tomorrow. Hope some of y'all can make it down to see Danny out. He's a great guy and sad he's at least partially checking out of the beer world.

Also who thinks a 2bbl system will allow you to partner with bars and restraunts?
Good bars can kick a 1/2bbl in a night. They will have no presence in the market. Whoever wrote their business plan needs a reality check of the industry in Colorado. 12 1/6bls means very little if you can't keep stock to supply your partners.

Also, making your daughter the brewer who has no professional experience as your head brewer is not wise. Even under tutelage I don't get that move.

They aren't even remotely in the ball park of distributing beer on a 2bbl system. Even if they have 7bbl brites that means triple batching every time just to fill.

Seriously what a waste of money. This business model won't work and will burn and crash. Now if they had a 7-10bbl system much more likely to work. But 2bbl? That's a joke.

Just a rich guy with money to burn.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this here, but Red Truck Beer is opening here in Fort Collins in the facility that previously held FCB... they’re evidently a Canadian brewery that’s expanding into our market. Seems like a huge investment and they’ve appeared to be working on the build out/renovation for quite some time now.

I’m lucky to have been invited to the soft opening and am excited for two reasons:
I love trying new beer and I love talking about soft openings.

I’ll be sure to report back later this week.

    This place is legit!
I can certainly see them being very successful here in Fort Collins. The soft opening was very nice. Got to try like literally 15 new, different beers. Had a few full pours as well. I wouldn't say anything really knocked my socks off, but there was literally nothing that wasn't at least 'good' with most offerings being 'above average to great'. Zero duds. Seems like they're going to be hitting the ground running.

Notable flavors- black lager, coffee brown, NE IPA, and NW IPA. All executed incredibly well.

Pretty sure they had like 4 lagers on which was a pleasant surprise.

The renovations to the old FCB gave the space a lot of character. They added the biggest deck (yes, deck) I've ever seen.

Food was really tasty and something that all the other breweries on Lincoln are lacking (other than food trucks obvi). Had a burger that was really good and the prices on all items were reasonable. Also- breakfast all day!

Overall, I'm really impressed and look forward to seeing how the place progresses.

I don’t know....doubt he spent more than $150K. These seem like old time (at least 3 generations) Arvada folks which means sufficient connections to sell those sixtels as fast as they can make them. My guess reading between the lines is no rent and no loan and no employee salaries (all family members). Hard to go broke in those circumstances; you might not make enough money for it to be enjoyable but where are you going to lose any?

If you feel like at some point you’ve got a beer with mass appeal, there’s always somebody competent and large scale enough to contract brew it for you. And I’ll bet he has sufficient goodwill over at CDC such that he can get distribution.

Seems low risk, if low margin, to me.
