I'm assuming the generic design has to do with the new "experimental" series and that we'll see the same white and black labels on following single/double IPAs respectively - and artsy labels on any releases that aren't "experimental". Also, name is on bottom along with date.

I believe they said four pack holder color would be different each time too.

Nah that's not true at all ... the name, "Windy Hill", is written across the top of the can ... the brewery, "Mikkeller", is stamped on the side of the can.

That's exactly my point ... there is NO name of the beer on the can :stuck_out_tongue: ... not that I'm going to lose sleep over it, I was just curious.

Oh, I didn't purchase Alpha so didn't realize this was the second time there was no name on the label - thanks for the heads up ... interesting approach by Offshoot.

This black / white can series are generally a single brewhouse turn (with the exception of Bravo, which will see distribution on draft) where we can be a bit more flexible and spontaneous with our approach. We had enough of these cans produced that we'll have them in inventory and ready to can when the beer is ready. Each beer will have a different PakTech color (until we need to start recycling colors, anyway!), and the beer name / package date should appear on the bottom of the can. The naming is based on the NATO Phonetic Alphabet, which is a bit more fun than "Beer A", "Beer B", etc.

By getting a more frequent steam of smaller releases, we're getting feedback on recipes and hoping to identify concepts which work particularly well, which we anticipate will lead to some recurring brands under Offshoot. While branding is important, we felt it was time to just focus on the beer and see what works.

    Cheers,
    Patrick

Not sure you know but they use a different hop bill each time is what I was referring too.

Speaking of recycling, I've asked about/mentioned this at the Society Fulfillment Center a few times now, but have you thought about setting up a drop off/recycling bin for PakTech holders?

A brewery near where I grew up has a recycling bin where you'd buy cans on your way in/out of the tasting room (their version of a fulfillment center desk I guess). You can discard your old holders there, and if it's not too busy the employee(s) stationed there might toss you a token for a free taster on your next visit. Regardless of any incentive, I think it's great the holders can be reused instead of wasting them on a single use.

Great idea, thanks! I don't know that we'd be able to reuse (there's some regulations on re-using packaging material, but might be doable), but if we can't, we can at the least recycle them at the appropriate location. I'll put this on our radar.

I'm just a little curious . . . why the relatively sudden interest and participation on this forum? You guys must have been observing discussions during OS's first year, but never seemed to want to weigh in on beer quality, etc., before now?

Joel, who used to participate in this forum a bit, is no longer with The Bruery, so I'm filling in the gap. My schedule is erratic, so I won't be able to consistently participate, but will when I can and where I'm able to provide useful info.

Well, FWIW, your posts so far have been very transparent and helpful, which wasn't always the case in the past.

Thanks for the detailed reply Patrick! Your approach makes sense. Good to know the name is on the bottom - I didn't realize that. Didn't really have strong feelings either way, just was curious. CHEERS!

Fair enough - I read your message as they do not have the name on the can. All goods, CHEERS!

Pretty smart to have a generic label on the cans, they can order a huge amount for cheaper? Save money from making new labels for each release, can put any beer they want and profits will be better.

Higher profits and/or lower shipping costs, which is a deal-maker for me in some cases.

Bravo is still available for purchase. Just the mention of OG Nelson made me buy some, don't fail me internet.
