Is it true that you shouldn’t bother without a reservation?

 

We were there last night. DDH kiss was pretty good, Strong Hand was bad. We sent it back and then they pulled it from the lines, so I’m guessing there was an issue with the lines or the keg.

 

Realize this is probably too late to be relevant but we showed up at 10:45 without a reservation. Were told that all their tables were reserved (something we would have done had it said anything about that on their Instagram post or website). Were added to the waiting list in case any of the 11s didn’t show. Just after 11 were told all there 11s showed and we could hang out to see if the 11:30s or 12s showed. Decided to leave and then were called 5 minutes after we drove away that are table was ready.

We really like their food and beer but are constantly let down by poor service and communication. Yet we continue to go back for the above reasons and because it’s very kid friendly. We were reconsidering after today though.

I too have had bad service experience there, but I’m curious in this case as to what they did wrong. They are a restaurant that takes reservations. This is not only a holiday, but THE holiday where I would expect families to go to a brewery. You went there and they were upfront with the situation. So you had information to make your decisions.

As I’ve said, I’ve had some bad service experiences there. However, this feels like going to Jimmy John’s on their annual one dollar sub day and being upset that there’s a line

 

No I get it. It’s Father’s Day. It’s going to be busy. But I actually didn’t know they took reservations and typically places have some tables available for walk ups. If they were only going to take reservations, why not say it on their Instagram post or anywhere on their website? I looked specifically for this information the day before and it’s not there. And yes I could’ve called and in hindsight I should’ve but I still think that’s poor communication on their part.

They then tell us that all of the 11 o’clocks showed up and we’d have to wait to see if the 11:30 or 12s show up but then call us before 11:30 to tell us our table is ready? It’s pretty frustrating. Maybe it’s just me though. They obviously aren’t hurting for business.

 

Not trying to be a hater but Strong Hand is kinda nasty.

 

Anyone have an idea of what the special tappings were today?

 

I had Strong Hand on Friday and it was good/normal


Untappd had CW BA stout, Swirl, Deth by Cherries, Honeyberry Frooted, and Backwoods Bastard

 

Swirl was on at open.

 

Interesting I commented to at least two servers that it was the better IPA and they both agreed. There must've been something wrong

 

any one know if the cans of strong hand are ok?

 

i bought 4 pack i think it is a good beer and canned without issues.

 

OK cool, I just sent some out for a $4$ trade so didnt want to send out bad beer lol

 

Based off the reviews and the reaction of the server and other workers, I got the sense that there was an isolated issue with that specific keg or draft line.

More on Saturdays can definitely be frustrating. They're so family-friendly that families with kids stay well after they're done eating, which kinda sucks for the server 'cuz those kids ain't drinking $6 beers so they're not making $1+ in tips for each beverage the shorties consume!

 

Yeh but I’ve also been there with my kids and been frustrated because my server disappeared for 10 minutes right when we were ready to leave. Believe me - when my kids get done eating I don’t want to stick around; they are ready to leave within 5 or 10 minutes when they’re done eating.

Unless we get the karma desert...

 

Wait...your kids actually eat!? You’re doing something right.

I’ve only been to More when there are no waits at all, so even if some lunatic parent decided that more time with their kids in a confined space was a good idea, it’s not like it was stopping some other customer from getting a table.

 

Right?! It's like we get in a public place and mine lose all semblance of decency and desire for nourishment unless it's eating ketchup with their fingers.

Same. We were there on a weekday, sans kids, at opening, were visiting with friends we hadn't seen in a while, and no pasty stouts were on tap. Our sever was not super attentive, but we didn't care because we were day drinking and catching up. Our glasses didn't run empty at any point, and that's what counted.
