    People--

Seriously-- do NOT flag any replies in the ISO-FT forum. Doing so will create a headache for the bros and they will eliminate the ability to reply again.

If you don't want there to be replies-- then don't fucking read them, and don't reply. It's that simple. You don't need to ruin it for everyone else.

As a gentle reminder to others-- try to keep replies helpful. There are certainly going to be people that flag anything questionable, so let's show that as a group we can play unsupervised.

    Well said.

If the trading vets lead by example, the newer folks will learn and ultimately become vets themselves. Hopefully adults will act like adults.

ROFL. A serious warning to not flag and a gentle reminder to be helpful.

The focus should be solely on:
Off to find some posts to mark. But only because I've been given an extra hour today.

    My point is simple;
The bros get tired of having to moderate the replies in the trading forum.
This leads them to eliminate replies.
If we don't flag any posts, then there won't be any posts to moderate.

the 'gentle reminder' was simply added to avoid getting a timeout, but I should have included something like "do not feed the trolls."

Leave responses like that to a BM please.
Seriously, stuff like that need to be said in private format, not in public.

Why do we have to be so sensitive?! We should all be able to take collective criticism and move on. Let's not forget the age old adage...."It's just beer!"

I don't think anyone is against constructive criticism for beer traders in the form of replies, and it has nothing to do with anyone being sensitive either.

Trolling/personal attacks simply have no place on BA, nor does replying to it. Report it and move on.

It's not "being sensitive." It's personal attacks for one thing, and then the blatant "pimp" designed to protect ones hoard. The old, "I wouldn't trade one *the beer I have* for one of those." This happens all the time when replies are allowed and end up bombing a perfecty acceptable trade offer.

In the end, definitely add facts, useful info about the beer, or serious questions to the threads, but leave your opinions and "personal trade values" out of it. Nobody is asking for you to dip into your personal stash. It's this kind of junk that annoys peole and will eventually get replies scorched again.

Oh, and I think this is more to AleWatcher & raymo55's point: Don't report other BAs for petty stuff; AKA - don't be so sensitive. BAs providing feedback/constructive criticism should also not be viewed as "threadshitting" and reported.

Just report the blatant rule breakers/disruptive posts.

Highly subjective, but the reply in question was clearly and completely uncalled for ... and a great example of why we turned off replies in the past.

    Todd,

When someone says "I wouldn't trade x amount of beer y for beer z", is that constructive criticism or feedback? Maybe it is just me, but when I read those statements they always seem to have a negative tone to them so I see it as threadshitting. Just curious where you and most of BA stands I guess.

So how is FT: Wooden Hell ISO: $350 of gopicksomeupformebro any different than eBay? I thought the response was pretty much in line with the offer, but I see Todd's point about how there's no place for it on BA. Wish replies would have stayed turned off honestly.

Just because people don't trade rarity for quantity that often these days, doesn't mean it can't or shouldn't happen. Most people gradually "trade up" brewery only release stuff for rare wales; it's just one way to go about it. When you factor in all the up trading and invested value in a beer like Wooden Hell, it may not be that far off from a similar value to a quantity of brewery release stuff. As to whether said beer is "obviously falling off", I wouldn't know such things.

I agree. I just see this as the same thing as monetizing your cellar. I really have no clue why I even have an opinion on such silly things. It's just beer, it really doesn't matter.

Sadly the example in question appears to be good evidence of why we can't have replies and also why so many users are frustrated with the current state of the trading environment around here...

I can see a lot of people considering that trade post to be dickish, but a lot of whale trades for new beers seem that way. I'm glad to see replies come back.

I don't see the problem with Cam's request either. If you don't agree, then don't do the trade. Nobody asked you to comment about your personal trade values.
