Rookie BIF Round 2 Hints and Hauls Thread

Big names do not always mean great, if you enjoy the beer you send so will your target provided they are into the same styles. Some of the best beers I have had are from breweries I have never heard of. I also like sending some crazy stuff not everyone is into. Wicked Weed does some crazy sours as well as Zebulon. If you ever want to trade your unknown breweries you like and want something my way hit me up.

I’ve only had one Bearded Iris, but I thought it was very good. I was unimpressed with the one Treehouse I’ve had, though, based on the hype.

 

100% agree. Missouri has Narrow Gauge. Whats that you ask?? something I just drank courtesy of @swenny916 . Also drank some awesome Threes (Brooklyn, NY) and Cigar City (Tampa, FL). Aka, no such thing as as just the big names. those little guys making that thing you love? everyone else probably agrees. but no-one has been lucky enough to try em. so show them!!!
In all honesty, I do send lots of the hype breweries when I send a box. Other Half, Barrier (surprised you included them...are people finally realizing theyre good?), Hudson Valley etc have definitely been in my past boxes. but people have always been the most surprised with breweries they've never had before

 

Yep, I'm a little north of NYC and close to Hudson Valley -- I think they are REALLY good, but not quite as good as hyped. And I prefer SingleCut to Other Half (and it's really not even close). Obviously part of it is personal taste; I also think folks artifically hype and inflate ratings for beers, then try to benefit on the secondary market.

 

What treehouse did you have out if curiosity? Cause I felt the same went in super hype and cane out impressed

 

Love single cut, haven't had much other half although just got some today

 

Special bonus the day before delivery hints --

1 - my target's state name contains the three letters W, I, and O

2 - I checked in a bunch (flight) of beers on untappd last night, my target toasted at least one of them

3 - one of my earlier hints was "My target's username contains one of my favorite beverages" -- that beverage contains 3 letters.

I'm not terribly proud of this, but I think I sent 100 lbs of beer to @kemoarps in the last round of NBS BIF. Maybe a touch excessive.

Holy hell @Oconomowocian and @swenny916 ! Awesome stuff! I stopped into FF last fall not knowing what to expect. Loved it, but still kicking myself for not grabbing any bottles. Rookie mistake.

Totally agree. I LOVE getting something from a brewery I've never heard of that someone else really enjoys.

Also prefer SingleCut to Other Half. Its rough for me to get Other Half in Buffalo, but almost every SingleCut that shows up on draft or in the stores is fresh, clean and for the most part delicious(not a fan of the Kim). But as others have said, some of the smaller/less fluffed breweries produce some amazing beers! I didn't even send any 42 north, Woodcock or Community Beer Works and these all have some very delicious beers.

 

They have been killing it lately. I can totally help you out. They have releases monthly. PM if you want to either trade or have me proxy stuff for u.

 

If you are interested in Speciation or other MI stuff, I'd love to set up something semiregular. This is exciting.

 

I think it was Alter Ego. Good, but not as spectacular as I was expecting.

 

Was in GR Monday and picked up a March of Progress which will be my first from them. Excited to give it a try

 

Never had Alter Ego. I will say Haze is a solid IPA for that style. Doppelgänger is also a good one, I liked it better than Julius
