This is just a convenient pretense - and that whole friendship with Dan and Mike thing. See, this wouldn't even be an issue if you'd joined us at Dark Lord day, because you'd be a member of the crew! Regardless, we can go back to being friends after my box destroys your porch tomorrow.

Good news @larryi86, @CanConPhilly, @JBowenGeorgia, @akatz821 and others. In honor of our share on Saturday, November 3rd, I moved the big work meeting I had scheduled for that following Monday back a week.

 

Who the Evil Empire is will become very clear when everyone sees what @FFFjunkie has done to our porches this week.

 

I'm currently watching it rain and tucking into my first Hopping Frog stout thanks to @Ozzylizard . This is also my first BIF beer shared on here.

Wow! This is good god damned beer if there ever was.
It pours thick and lackadaisical with a head that calls to mind espresso foam. The aroma is very solidly dark chocolate, as is the flavor. Intense roastiness all around with absolutely nothing I'd consider harsh.

It reminds me of Mexican chocolate melted in a shot of espresso (not the beer-nerd/foody pseudo spicy version, I mean real Mexican chocolate like Abuelita). Really a dark chocolate bomb that manages to be really drinkable, just like other great stouts, both despite and because of how beefy it is. Absolutely excellent!
I've eyed their beers from afar for quite a while and wasn't sure if I'd ever get to try one. I can't believe I'm gonna get to explore so many variants over the winter.

People really don't talk about them all that much, but I think Hoppin Frog does a great job with their big stouts.
