So, my wife and I spent the weekend in North Carolina visiting our son and daughter but I knew that a box had arrived on Friday from @Vidblain and this morning I couldn't wait to get home. I made it from Newark Airport in record time. What a box!

    BA Surly Darkness RIS
    Scofflaw BA RIS
Hammerheart Brewing's Mani Smoked Chocolate Stout with Cherries
Bank Brewing's Default BBA Imperial Maple Porter.
Pipeworks' Over the Line BBA Russian Imperial Milk Stout (that's a new style for me!)
    The ??? Mystery ??? Beer.
And two (2) bottles of organic BBQ sauce, one Black Garlic and the other Hickory Bourbon.

I am so excited. The box perfectly compliments Box #1 which was all hoppy IPAs and Pales.

Thank you sooo much, Chris! These beers are spectacular!!! I'll be over on NBS momentarily to sample the mystery beer.

    Cheers,

    Rob

Today is my brother’s birthday and we have been working all day so I enlisted his help with this one from @spersichilli When he said it was called “Insulin Resistance”, and my experience with Angry Chair, I figure I may need it anyway

I didn’t see the listing for it here, but I would swear it’s a spiced stout. As in peppers. If not, it has a ton of cinnamon, which it has either way. A strong cinnamon/nutmeg spice on the nose. That spice is noticeable throughout. A marshmallow like flavor with rich vanilla sweetness stand out on top of a milk chocolate backdrop. No real hint of the alcohol. Fairly thick, but not in hard to drink way. More of a creaminess. There’s a pepper like bite from the cinnamon. A really tasty beer, but not sure I could make it through 32oz. Really rich. Would guess my score to be around 4-4.25 overall. See you on NBS with a mystery beer later

Untappd says Coffee, Chocolate, Marshmellow, Caramel. I got a little spice from it too. Definitely one that’s better shared but I enjoyed it a lot too

I found the listing for it and one person mentioned that they were told cinnamon was definitely used. I would put my left nut on a chopping block that it’s in there. Not my right one though. It’s too special. I did get some coffee really late as it warmed, but came across more like chared grains

So, looking forward, how do we get some folks from ND, SD, WV, and VA in the next round. I can't be the only one missing some of these states!

Don’t summon WV. There is literally like one decent beer there.

Dude, I recently ticked a "Rainier PCT" beer (brewed Fort fucking Worth Texas, waddafuq they know about the Pacific Crest Trail? I know multiple people who have done it. Fuck Pabst.) https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/47051/369416/?ba=beertunes#review , and it was turrible, just tuurble. West Virginia can do better. They can at least tie, they can't possibly do worse. Virginia is the weird one, i shoulda hit that by now. ND and SD, I think you have to go there. And, I've already seen The Heads in person. Although, I wouldn't mind swinging by Crazy Horse again....

I do have a Fernson Brewing (SD) 6 pack that I just picked up Thursday in New Ulm, MN. I'll gladly send you one if you want it. Also I can easily get Fargo Brewing beers (ND) here in central, MN.

Almost at 100 pages, gentlemen. Have we ever had a NBS BIF Hints and Hauls thread make 100 pages?

We're definitely going to this time around. I've got a ninja box slated to land in approximately 36 hours, and I'm expecting a second box, myself. This is nuts!

You got some beers from Adroit in VA last round. Do you need caps or cans in particular?

Maybe it's not VA then, but, I'm pretty sure I still need 4 states.

To my fellow participants and especially @LloydDobler

With greatest apologies. I am unable to post in NBS. Approximately an hour and a half ago I sat down to open a cou of fabulous beers that I received. I picked out glassware, I put Astral Weeks (live at the Hollywood Bowl version) on, got out a pad and a pen. I was ready. Then... .

It started innocently. My little curled up on my lap and said she had a headache. She didn't feel warm. Then it happened. I believe that the total volume of vomit was approximately 3 times that of my daughter's entire internal capacity. I was quite impressed by this vomitous display.

I've cleaned and disinfected the room. I've washed my child and I'm doing laundry. A sense of normalcy has returned. However there remains a fear. A fear of round two. A fear that my other daughter awakens with a similar malady. I cannot imagine facing this again with a belly full of beer.

My apologies. I will post in NBS next week and I will serve any penance required

I’m pretty sure the beer god are fairly lenient in circumstances like these. Take care of that kid!

This reminds me of a funny story from when I was young. My family was at a house party. My little brother(probably 4 at the time) came up to my dad and told him that he thought he was going to be sick. My dad thought he was a little funny. Maybe he had one too many honey Browns to know the level of severity this was edging on. He jokingly cupped his hands and said,”If you are going to get sick, you can do it in here.” Nobody was ready for what happened next...

Shaun hurled projectile vomit about 2’ from where he stood in the direction of our father. The closest comparison I can come up with is the green pea soup cannon from the exorcist. It went everywhere! Of course, as an 8yr old tot I thought this was hilarious. I’m laughing in my recliner now thinking back to that moment. That story still makes an appearance from time to time at thanksgiving dinner. Not sure why I shared that, but once I started typing it out I couldn’t stop.
