I've had most Fest beers available here and IMO this one is easily the best. Yes, it's better than the imports IMO.

It's an amber beer, but it's a tad hoppy. It might be the only hoppy amber fest beer I've ever had as well.

Excellent APA as usual. Have not had it in years. Fantastic lasting fluffy head retention/foamy lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, citrus peel/rind, pepper, and pine hops; with moderate cracker, lightly toasted biscuit, light honeyed malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation, light-medium body, and moderately crisp finishing. Balanced bready/grainy malts, and sticky hops in the mouthfeel; some resins/rinds. Light-moderate increasing bitter dryness, no hop astringency. Very flavorful/refreshing, 5%. Not watery at all. Very vibrant, and fairly dank/earthy classic C hop complexity; with a nice bready malt backbone for the ABV. Glad Odd Sides date the cans now. This and CPA will definitely be in the fridge more often!

Delicious gose. Great head retention/lacing for the style. Aromas and flavors of big juicy/lightly tart/tangy watermelon, cucumber, fruit skin, lemon, lime, pear, melon, red/green apple, white wine, sea salt, hay, straw, and grass; with moderate wheat, cracker, white bread malts; light lacto/musty funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tart/sourness, and light fruit tang on the finish. Medium-plus carbonation, light body, and moderately crisp/clean finishing. Balanced grainy malt and lactic acid in the mouthfeel; light fruit tang and salinity. Light-moderate increasing acidic/tangy dryness, no puckering sourness. Very flavorful and pretty refreshing, 3.5%. Not overly lactic/salty. Great balance of authentic watermelons and Brett/Lacto complexity; with a solid pale/wheat malt backbone against acidity. Spot on stuff.

Odd Side Ales Citra Pale Ale. Any thoughts on the Mason Crosby performance today? What can we compare this to? Maybe nothing. Off the charts like ARog last second W’s. Cheers!

I decided I wanted just one more for tonight, and if that's the case, I'd better make damn sure it's something I'll enjoy.

    No problems here. :grinning:

@superspak @GreenBayBA speaking of black metal, what do you guys think of Deafheaven? I'm just now getting into the new album, and I've got to say, I'm digging it.

    Cheers!

Clown Shies Oktofest. Trying to scream my Cowboys to a victory. Got an early Christmas present, the Sooners shit canned Mike Stoops ( bout time ). That D perfomance against Texas was disgraceful.

This is awesome. Aromas and flavors of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty medium roast coffee, vanilla, cream, toasted oats, and biscuit dough malts; with light herbal, grassy, peppery hops. Light-moderate herbal/grassy/spicy bitterness and roasted coffee bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and body; very creamy/bready/grainy malts; light sticky hops and chalky roast in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering hop/roast bitter dryness, no acrid/astringency. Extremely flavorful for 4.8%. This is definitely the best white stout I've ever had! Very rich balanced flavors of cocoa, coffee, vanilla, and bready oats/malts; with nice balancing earthy hops. Just absolutely nailed it, legitimately feels like a stout. Glad we get them in the state now! Loved the PB porter as well.

Delicious session NEIPA. Flavors of orange, lemon, grapefruit, peach, pear, red apple, pineapple, mango, melon, citrus peel/zest, mint, and light pepper/pine hops; with moderate wheat, biscuit dough malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Similar/muted aromas. Light pine, citrus peel, herbal, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation, light-medium body, and fairly crisp finishing. Creamy/bready/grainy malts and some sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Slight resins, increasing dryness, no hop astringency. Very flavorful/refreshing, 4.7%. Nice soft feel for the style. Very juicy, dank, and vibrant hop complexity; nice bready malt backbone, with minimal residual sweetness. They went with Amarillo, Calypso, Denali, and El Dorado; so it's more stone/pome fruity than tropical, but still delicious. Well made style example.

Parched and in the mood for something light and hoppy. Hmmm, I wonder what I should drink?

Sounds great to me, never heard of them. They have some really old school Black Metal production sound going on for a band that formed in 2010, but I dig it.

I like Deafheaven! I saw them open for Carcass, then I checked out their albums. I like listening to their albums on the porch, late at night.

I'm very surprised, Ian! You normally introduce me to new bands, not the other way around.

They're kind of the "pop" music of black metal, but they've got some really quality stuff. Sunbather is their biggest album. I appreciate that no matter how melodic the music gets, the vocals stay pure black metal. A very cool band.

    Batch #004.
    16 oz. can.

Moderate pour yields a dark tan head over a very dark brown, near black, body with fairly thick and sticky lacing. Nose of molasses and pecan with roasted malt and booze. Taste of pecan, molasses, and milk chocolate. Finish of bitter chocolate, toasted caramel, and booze. Nice feel and overall, a good dessert beer, but may be a bit too sweet for a lot of folks. Cheers.

Fantastic witbier! Aromas and flavors of big lemon, orange zest, pear, red apple, melon, coriander, peppercorn, clove, and light banana/bubblegum yeast; with balanced wheat, biscuit dough, light honeyed malts; herbal/floral/grassy spice and yeasty earthiness. Mild herbal/grassy bitterness, yeast spiciness, and wheat tang/tartness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; very creamy/silky/bready wheat mouthfeel. Light sticky spice/hops and increasing dryness. Super refreshing, 5.5%. One of the best wits I've ever had for sure. Very rich and flavorful for the ABV. Perfectly balanced yeast, spices, and pale/wheat malts. Very well rounded complexities. Will be keeping this around often, as I have been.

Outstanding imperial stout! Flavors of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, whiskey, toasted oak, molasses, coconut, and dark bread; with lighter notes of smoke, raisin, plum, fig, licorice, pepper, and herbal hops. Similar aromas with more balanced yeasty/fruity character. Light herbal hop/roast bitterness and yeast/bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body; with an outstanding creamy, silky, velvety, and rich mouthfeel. Slight chalky roast, oak tannins, and dryness. Never acrid. Mildly warming 11.8%, zero barrel booze. Dangerously easy sipping. Very rich, with perfectly integrated barrels and great malt complexity. Nice complementing yeast notes that aren't overwhelming from the Scottish yeast. Very smooth/silky mouthfeel from the barrel aging. Definitely a great addition to the year round BBA stout availability around here.
