    I don't like Gose, but this one is kinda sane, and I like it.

    Grateful to try my first Holy Mountain courtesy of @kemoarps


    Pours golden, half centimeter of head, fine and large bubbles
    Smell is orange, cotton candy, lemongrass
    Taste is lemonade, vanilla, orange
    Mouthfeel is medium. Full and satisfying for the style
    Overall, very enjoyable! Its got nice tropical notes but balanced with bitterness and good mouthfeel

    Thank you, Kestrel! This beer does not disappoint.

    Reached back into @nc41 's box o' goodies and brought out Haw River Calico Fields. Not sure just what a "Farmhouse Pilsner" is supposed to be, but it's a damn tasty brew.

    Well, I do think "grade inflation" is a real and serious thing. "3" is average, on a scale of 1-5. Over the years, there have been numerous threads about scoring, and how folks approach it, and I see so many people saying things along the lines of "If its below a 4, I won't even try it". That shit is ridiculous.

    I think the average beer is pretty good, one I would happily drink anytime. 3.5 is exceptional. 4 and above is truly rarified air. If nothing else, just look at my "Overall" score.

    BTW, on UT, which I don't take at all seriously, I give everything a 4 (it just makes it easier on me while I'm just hanging with friends), unless it's really good or really bad. A 3.5 there is a really bad beer. A 4.5 is nearly flawless.

    You're the only person on the site who actually uses a 3.0 as average -- the Bros included, even though that's what they list in their how-to's. Sort of refreshing, but I do feel a bit bad for beers where you're one of the only raters. Pays to read those REVIEWS folks. #NBS4EVA

    So now that I’m finally home I can see the carnage that has once again occurred at the hands of @Blackop555 ....

    I live about 15 minutes from Schramms, B. Nektar and Cellerman's. It's scary to see some of the costs of them especially Schramms. As great as it is, I can't afford to explore it. Once in a while trips to the meadery is enough for me.

    I too have not found a scotch I like. The less smoke the better but mostly I stick with whisk(e)y and bourbon.
