I’m in a cozy, re: small 10x10, motel room in the pinky region of Michigan preparing for a quick bike trip on the NCT. Brought some pre trip beers because riding bikes with a headache is cool right?

Opened this one from @CanConPhilly [IMG]
I can’t tell if it’s actually this color or the yellow lights and knotty pine walls are affecting it. Either way, this beer is awesome! Been a long time want for any TH beers and this just sets the bar. Thanks Matt!

I got this sweet little surprise from @tasterschoice62 today:

It was a thank you for a LIF box I sent him a while back (is that allowed?), and is awesome because 1) I really need more Night Shift in my life (I might have mentioned that to him, oops) and 2) I'm a huge Red Sox fan and I'm pretty sure as long as I drink New England beer while they are playing they will keep winning. The only game they lost in the first round my wife had me at an event (and away from my fridge). @jhavs stocked me up nicely, but I tore through a lot of hops willing them to victory last night so this is a very welcome resupply.

    Thank you so much Lawrence!

Next for me, a want! from @CanConPhilly [IMG]
Beautiful, classic, west coast IPA. This one is so good. I took it off my wants but wouldn’t be opposed if more made its way to me. Again, thanks Matt

Oh, crap, I've got a case of the hops tonight. Thanks to @Bum4ever .

Pours a hazy, murky, cloudy golden color. The head is white, 1 finger, frothy, with decent retention.
The nose is what is expected - pineapple is really strong in the nose. Really strong.
Taste - Very smooth. Pineapple is the citrus flavor. Minimal, to no alcohol burn, even though it's an 8%+ beer.
Smooth feel, full bodied. Hops linger in my throat, and there's no alcohol burn.
Solid easy drinking DIPA - maybe, almost too easy to drink. Really delicious.

This has got to be it tonight, but it is also going down way too easy.

Got a few more from @TheDoctor. This was fantastic. Lasting fluffy head retention and foamy lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/zest, green pepper, and light pine hops; with balanced wheat, white bread dough, light honeyed malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Very mild pine, zesty, herbal, floral, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; very creamy/bready wheat, and light sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Slightly increasing lingering bitter dryness, no cloying/astringent. Super smooth/soft, mildly increasing warmth of 8%. Loved this one. Has Simcoe, Cascade, and Equinox. I knew I'd be a fan, because I love Equinox! Extremely juicy, and lightly dank/earthy hop complexity; perfect wheat/oat/malt balance, not overly sweet from lingering dryness. Spot on NEIPA! 4.28

Don't you hate it when you're packing up a box, and all of a sudden it's full but you still have a bunch of beers packaged that you want to send so you have to pack another box?

    Don't you hate that, @Dragginballs76 ?

    I hate that.

Just opened up this awesome pale ale from Roadhouse Brewing courtesy of @colts9016. Prior to this I had no idea Jackson Hole had so many breweries.[IMG]

I agree with a lot of these points. Over my massive 7400+ beer journey, it takes a LOT to get a 5 on any attribute. As you said, basically has to blow me away. Appearance is on a case by case basis. High alcohol or lactic acid killing the foam is acceptable, and not poor quality due to underlying factors. Aromas have hardly gotten more than a 4 on high hyped barrel aged beers because they are too boozy. Look at all of my Bruery stout reviews, because they apply. Not saying they aren't amazing, it's just that the more beer you have, the less impressive anything else will be on a certain style aspect. Everything just kind of goes down on ratings over time for the most part, from my revisits. A normalization of numbers.

How's everybody doing in the southeast? I'm thinking @Roguer , @JBowenGeorgia , @Dragginballs76 , @nc41 , and others in FLA, AL, GA, SC, NC, and onward. That hurricane seems to be a monster, even though it's technically downgraded to a tropical storm, that's still a helluva lot o' wind and rain for y'all?
    Sending good thoughts.

Thank you for the good thoughts! Right now we are getting the first outer bands, expecting 4-5 inches of rain tonight. The brunt of it looks to be passing directly over us around 4-5AM. Hoping it's just rain and light(er) winds at that point.
CC is doing a preorder on an Imperial Trop Haze at 11 tomorrow, hoping to have cell service to place my order!

I actually had the exact opposite happen in the Can Can BIF. the box I bought was a medium heavy duty and I had some room so I put more beer in!! Sounds like you need a bigger box!!

Thanks for the thoughts, we are starting to see some rain and a little wind, the power flickered once or twice before I left for work this morning. I am hoping for just some rain and a little wind. We are supposed to get 4 - 5 inches and 40 mph winds but we will see. Had a ton of flooding just a couple weeks ago so tensions are running high.
