Bell's Bourbon Barrel Aged Expedition Stout 2018

I was able to get two 4-packs today; my local central Indiana shop said they got two cases.

Drinking one now, and it is absolutely delightful, even after scalding my mouth on some Korean soup for dinner tonight.

 

Grocery store out by me in Oakland County got three cases. Was selling four packs, limit two.

Well, West Lafayette, but basically yes. I would expect that the other Village Bottle Shoppe locations also got some, so I could probably snag some more without bottle limits if needed. The four-pack price and quality both are pretty similar to Deth's Tar, in my opinion. I'd say that BBA Expedition is more chocolatey, while Deth's Tar is a bit more bourbon- and barrel-forward, though.

 

How is the hunt in Oakland/macomb/Wayne going for everyone?

 

I called Binnys Grand - they said not in yet. I’d been told originally today as well.

 

Down here I've heard everything from the Bell's rep isn't saying anything, to they don't distro that beer (), to in a week or two, to tomorrow. So who the hell knows.

 

Only got 2 bottles which is enough for me, but sounds like it came and went pretty quick today for all the grocery stores in the Plymouth/Canton/Livonia area. There may be some liqour stores that may still have some, but sounds like most places only got 1-2 cases.

 

You inspired me to do '18 BBA Expo and '17 Black Note tonight. I agree that Expo is better but more boozy. Definately mellowed as it warmed and just has more "taste" to it. I can't wait to see what some age does to this one. Good job Bell's! Both beers are amazing and would drink each 11/10 times.

 

Got me a 4 pack of BBAES today in NWI along with Rev Code Switch. Had to pay cash B/c the wife has been looking at the CC statements lately.

 

What is the price point for 4 packs

Bitter Pops had it with no limit tonight for $10. Steep price, but I’ve had it on tap twice now and it’s worth it to me. And that’s from someone who really didn’t think last year’s was special.

I’m looking forward to a blind tasting of 17 vs 18.

Reporting back - checked the beer finder, ventured into some strange pockets of Detroit, found some BBAES. Thanks for the help, this is one I've wanted to try for a long time!

 

regular Expedition stout for me is an all time great and one of my favorite beers, and I never got to try the BA version, but I finally got to have it on tap yesterday in downtown Chicago and it did not disappoint. I thought this beer was phenomenal and I agree with @croush, would gladly pay $10.
