Big Aslin fan. Go and pick up cans every week or two. The past few releases have had some changes (drop in quality... IMO) in their IPA/DIPA’s... seems to be in their malt bill. Beers pours significantly darker and beers are maltier than normal. Not that fresh vibrant hop character like normal. Beers I have noticed the past month or so... Vapid, Master of Karate, Laser Raptors, Master of Oranges, The Implication... I have had multiple batches of all of the above. Haven’t had a really good hoppy Aslin beer in a month or so. After being my go-to for a couple years.

Anyone notice this? Have any insight? Thanks.

I picked up my favorite, Orange Starfish, at the end of September and it was not up to standard. It wasn't bad by any means, just not its usual self.

I've been pretty underwhelmed with their IPAs for a while so I stopped buying their beers until I can buy single cans or try on tap before buying. Maybe it's just me but as far as their IPAs go, they have yet to get back to where they were a 1.5-2 years ago, still good just not stuff I want to pay $20/4-pack or wait in line for.

Side rant but the slowplaying of their events is so damn annoying. They post hints at stuff and then don't give the details for weeks. Like what is the black friday thing? And the pop-up in DC, what is that? Them serving food and canned/bottled beer?

Did you guys tell the brewery about this? I think they've been scaling their recipes up, and, to the extent they're not already aware, they would probably appreciate knowing they're missing the mark.

Based on the label approval page on the Virginia ABC website, I think they're releasing seven different adjunct-heavy 16% ABV stouts.

I also had a couple of the ones you mentioned, and was surprised they were so malty. I had gotten back onboard with periodically getting Aslin's ipas but now who knows.

Thanks, never knew that page existed, looks like the put in for like 25 labels not too long ago. Lots of high ABV stouts, lower ABV IPAs and sours.

I'm with you. I couldn't put my finger on it - thought it was just Aslin fatigue. I now just use them for trading to get my Trillium fix.

I guess they want in on what people are getting on the secondary market.

Aren't those bottles for on-site consumption only as well?

Yes, so factor in tax and tip and it's about $100. No draft at the pop-up either, kind of disappointing.

I saw that on Instagram and honestly thought it was a joke. I figured they must be all BA Stout's, but nope. That berliner, Twinkle, sounds good but at $75 per bottle that is a little nuts.

FWIW the non-BA stout bottles were $30, including Cotton. Still a bit rich for me but closer to reasonable IMO

I see. Is there a charity involved in this? That's the only way I can wrap my head around these prices, even the $30 berliners.

Yes, so a little over a pint (16.907 oz).

Saw the Herndon stout is going for $65. And that's for on site consumption. Good luck.

    $65? That's insane.

My brother was visiting from out of state and I convinced his to bring home an $8 can of Bale. His review was "It was decent, but definitely not worth $8. And if their IPA's are representative of what NEIPA's are, I think I'll be sticking with the Sierra Nevada product line."

I'm out on the Aslin IPAs. The last 4 DIPAs I picked up were either malt bombs or fell apart within 2 weeks or so. Laser Raptors, MOO, and Dunley all off. Used to be able to count on the core DIPAs like Dunley, DOS, Masters, but it's a coin flip on quality.
