Another vote for blabaer. Good beer, by no means great.

I could not agree with you more -- Haters hate, if its not stone, its dfh or rouge.
Plus its all subjective. So stop analyzing and drink good beer.

A couple that pop into mind for me are:

    Kate
    3F Malvasia Rosso

Niether were bad, but just not as good as I expected given the reviews.

I don't care much for Stone IPA, but i like Ruination, and Sublimely Self Righteous is killer.

It was a brand new And fresh can. I liked it, I just don't think it's the greatest iipa in the world.

PtE. I've tried it a couple times now, and while it was very good, it wasn't the "angels singing" experience most people talk about. Once it was about a month old, the other was barely a week. And while they were at different times, the difference was noticeable. I personally am a bit put off by a beer that does drop off that noticeably that quickly. I got some HT over the summer, and had one a week, as my Friday evening kickoff. That held up perfectly; there was no noticeable difference between the first and last, a couple months apart.

Don't know, but I don't think it is heady.

True, I wasn't expecting them to be that amazing and sure enough they weren't.

Off the top of my head...

    Black Butte Porter
    Thomas Hardy Ale
    N'Ice Chouffe
    Darkness
    Oaked Arrogant Bastard

And in a way... FBS and Parabola but not as drastic as the beers above.

Ha, a loose turn of phrase on my part, I admit. But here are a few examples of beers I prefer for each style equivalent to the Founders offering I mentioned:

    Breakfast Stout (Imperial Coffee stout):

    Avery Tweak http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/30/56199

    KBS (Bourbon Aged Imperial Stout):
Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Stout http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/1549/10672
    Avery Uncle Jacob's Stout http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/30/80197
    Firestone Walker Parabola http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/2210/41815
    Lost Abbey Angel's Share http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/18149/32413

    Double Trouble (Double IPA):

This is exactly how I felt about the first bottle of Hunahpu's I had. The next three bottles, however, were absolutely phenomenal. I'm not sure what the deal is, but it certainly seems that some bottles have a lot more chili and spice than others.

The 2011 incarnation of Surly Darkness was just bad - one-dimensionally sweet with very little else going on. It's probably the only beer on the Top 100 - Popular list that I would turn down if given the option to try it again.

The other one on the Top 100 that I just wasn't a fan of was Peche Mortel - WAY too bitter, like black coffee. I know some people like that in a beer, but it's just not my thing. Founders Breakfast Stout is a much more balanced and delicious version of a coffee stout.

I've heard that there is significant bottle and batch variation, but having only had it the one time, I didn't see what all the fuss was about.
