Has barrel aged expedition come & gone in Chicago & the burbs?

 

Has barely showed up in Chicago as of now. I know of like two Binny's and maybe one or two other stores that got it. And it was sold out day of.

 

yea it showed up pretty randomly too

 

I snagged both at G&W. Price point seemed high. Abv seemed low. Bottling date - last year?

 

It’s hit most stores in the city already. Still some that haven’t got it, but most have already sold it through.

 

I feel like all I've heard about in this thread is maybe a handful of stores throughout Chicagoland receiving it. Can't imagine that's "most stores in the city." What Binny's in the city got it and sold through it?

 

Binny’s Marcey got it and sold through, I think. Never hit shelves? 1pp and you had to call or ask for it.

Edit - also, when I got a bottle, a friend went right after and asked for it and was told they were out. Timing seemed too cute for me. There’s a chance they needed to know you / like you.

Binny's has a tendency to be this way until you establish yourself as a regular.

 

My original criteria was “good-looking and sweet-talking.”

 

I was able to score some 4-packs using bells beer finder on their website.

Just an fyi. It seems to have hit a lot of places, and is probably available in some smaller stores in area that aren’t a hot bed of craft beer activity.

 

Binny’s LP, Binny’s Grand, Bottle & Cans, Beer Temple, Bitter Pops, Whole Foods Ashland, Whole Foods DePaul. Those are just the places I know of, but it covers most of the main beer stores on the Northside that I frequent.

 

Paid the $20 + tax for The Event Horizon...it was pretty good. In today's stout market, I would call it a letdown. Worth a quaff, but I shan't be buying it again.
