Recent St. Paul administrations have demonstrated little respect for or capacity to carry out their fiduciary responsibilities.

I don't really want to post an entire wall of text, so I'll just throw out the main points:
    • Had loans from the Economic Development Authority for $75,000, the Housing and Redevelopment Authority for $50,000, the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation for $200,000, and unspecified amounts from both the Faribault Industrial Corp & First United Bank.
    • HRA agreed to a $14,500 buyout on a remaining $38k balance; EDA voted to begin negotiations on similar deal, with a $70k remaining balance. Remaining balances were unknown for the other three, but SMIF accepted Temke's offer of $0.20 on the dollar and First United is refusing to accept anything less than 100%.
    • Agreements also allowed him to keep and move the brewing equipment to St. Paul and, according to Temke, avoid bankruptcy.

Yoerg Saloon, St. Paul, Sunday, 11-18-18, Facebook: "Finger's crossed, we hope to be open this weekend [presumably meaning the weekend of 11/23-11/25] and then would be on schedule for a 'formal' opening December 1st." I'm hearing that this would be the opening for the pub, but the house-brewed beer may not be on tap for a few additional weeks. Note that December 1st also is the scheduled opening date for fellow new St. Paul establishment Stacked Deck Brewing.

Half-Pint Brewing Company will open on Friday, November 30th. From their Facebook feed:

"Finally, we will be open on Fridays and Saturdays beginning November 30th from 12pm to 9pm. We will have 8 beers on tap."

I love lagers too, but I have to say I am a little hesitant that the brewer has only homebrewing experience.

Just went to their website. According to this page, they have only five beers on tap: https://3rdactbrew.com/on-tap-&-in-oven

Also, somebody on google left a review today, saying the same; only five on tap....

I’ve just emailed the pioneer press and asked them to fire the employee who wrote the article saying there are 8 beers on tap , hope your happy old man!

I was there yesterday, when there were five beers on tap, with a sixth scheduled to be released today. From my flight, I thought the two hoppy beers* were pretty good, with a large flavor to alcohol ratio, the cherry beer and Scotch ale less so. Overall, I'd rank 3rd Act slightly above-average by the low standards of brand new breweries.

The venue is pretty large and was 90% full on a Monday evening, which was an impressive crowd even for a brewery so recently opened. There continue to be large, underserved pockets in the suburbs even as Minneapolis and St. Paul proper show signs of saturation.

    * One was a small (4.7% ABV) West Coast IPA. The other was called a Session IPA on the video menu but a Pale Ale on the printed menu; the latter seemed more accurate to my palate.

Thanks much for this info ,was curious to hear how the beer was there. I saw the building last week and it looked impressively polished ! There are definitely some suburbs that could use their own brewery so glad this opened .

I am most interested in checking out Stacked Deck when they open , hoping they create a Dayton’s Winter IPA !!!

The wee heavy is 4.5% Do they know what a wee heavy is?

West Coast IPA at 4.7%?? Again. Not a session IPA but a West Coast IPA.

    Color me skeptical.

Neither was noticeably under-attenuated; I don't think the ABV came in substantially below target. My guess is that 3rd Act was aiming for low ABV in both and ignorant to the definition of Wee Heavy (perhaps not a great sign, but then again a lot of breweries these days seem not to realize that any form of Scottish/Scotch or Irish ale exists at all). I agree that 4.7% ABV is very low for an IPA. Nonetheless, a true "session ale" of any sort should come in at 4% ABV or under, and any brewery calling an IPA over, say, 4.5% ABV a "Session IPA" is being both imprecise and irresponsible, so I think "IPA" is the correct style designation in this case. This particular beer had a good amount of flavor and a surprisingly hefty body. I would've guessed it were 6% ABV if I didn't know better. Any brewery that can pack a lot of flavor into a small amount of alcohol gets my attention in a positive way.
