    Afternoon, folks!

This fairly new Short's brew was bottled this week and is awaiting distribution. This is the second time Bludgeon has made it's way into our limited specialty bottle release line up. With it's bigger body and excellent dark malt qualities, we decided to showcase it as a later fall option. Cheers!

This India Black Ale is a shining example of stylistic guidelines. Intense fruity and floral aromas abound with a subtle malty fragrance reluctantly piercing through. A deep black color attunes the pallet for rich, dark, roasted malt flavors. The unexpected twist comes when high hop bitterness takes over and resonates profoundly.

This was an awesome surprise last year. I'm not a fan of Black IPAs but this one is damn fine.

what did you find so awesome about it? I for one thought it had a slight off taste, maybe was the wheat malt that I am not use to im not sure.

Its rich but light st the same time. I drank one at room temp and one cold. Room temp brought out all the complexity. You get a coffee taste and a little coco bitter.

This looks great. I'm excited to pick some of this up. Also need to find some Chocolate Wheat. What's the overall consensus on the Chocolate Wheat?

This is a favorite... Also saw the BrewPub has a Spruce Black IPA on tap? Sounds delicious.

Any idea what hop might be used to get that strong pine, resin, harsh nose/taste in this and other Shorts hoppy beers (im looking at you Huma)? BTW I absolutly love it. Chinook comes to mind, any other Ideas? Maybe it has more to do with their water profile/yeast?

We use many high alpha variety's in our hoppier offerings. Bludgeon uses an English yeast strain and of course, the profile of the water affects the brew.
