I'm sure this has come up (but this is my first year in RS so I only passingly followed these threads before) - have they ever hinted at a plan to rebrew this set eventually? I'm not suggesting brewing all 12 at once, which is probably not a good idea either, but maybe in multiples of 4 or something?

It's kind of a fun idea to have a set even if you want ed to plop down seven big ones for the set, I feel like you are flipping a coin on half of this stuff being past it's prime.

I'm sure they've already addressed this, just wondering if we can get a refresher!

The fact that they even offered partridge in the $700 set is an insult to members of years past.

Unless I am completely off my rocker, I swear they sold Piapt and Papier before during an archive sale “for charity” at a cost of $100 per bottle and they oversold it and had to refund people because they “didnt have any left.”

But here we are years later and some magically appeared.

The last time *I THINK* I remember PIAPT being on sale was the Christmas sale year when they had a small run of archive bottles available daily at the brewery that differed from the archived bottles online. It might have been 2014 or 2015. I'm almost certain they had regular PIAPT one day with a limit of one per person. Other days -- like when they sold Otiose, the only other bottle I went after -- were 2pp. I can't remember the price but I believe it was $50 or $60 then.

Looking back through my email, they put up 24 bottles at $99.99 for a stress test sale on 10/21/13 but I don't know if it ended up oversold. I also seem to recall them doing an in person sale at some point for $100, but I'm a bit fuzzier on the details of that.

It might have been $100 instead of $60. I was thinking about it and that number seemed low.

They did an in-person sale for Partridge out of Provisions twice I think? Back when we'd all actually line up for these "12 Days of Bruery" releases in a world that was way cooler than when hazebros do it now.

From 2013, I see two Partridge notes:

5/9/13: 4. Silent Auction: This Sunday, which is also Mother's Day, we'll be holding an anniversary silent auction of some of the rarest beers from our archive cellar. Expect the likes of Partridge In A Pear Tree, Bourbon Barrel Aged Batch #1 and multiple variations of Papier to make an appearance.

    10/18/13:
    Partridge in a Pear Tree 24 $99.99
    100% Donated to
    Ales for ALS

I bought a Papier in 2015 for $50. Does not seem bad with stuff like 3 French Hens going for $50 now.

BA Partridge is the only one I need for a full BA Christmas set. I sort of wish I also had been keeping a non BA set to do next year and the BA for the year after that but don't really care at this point. The BA beers have almost always been included so just put one away and forget about it!

I think BA 4 Calling Birds is the best. Opened one up last year and it was like liquid spice cake.

I second this. BA4CB has been my favorite of all holiday releases. Have had all except for the BA versions of the first two.

Wow, thanks you two, way to jack up the FOMO!

I always found regular 4CB too heavy on the spices. Now original 5 Golden Rings... That is my jam. I feel like it's dropped off with age, but given I don't have any more I'm seriously considering grabbing one tomorrow for old times' sake.

For anyone interested in purchasing a 5 Golden Rings, I had one a month ago and it is drinking great at the moment. This beer has improved immensely with age.

I like BA 4CB and am grateful to still have a couple left but Bal-aged Two Turtle Doves is my overall favorite. @skiking70 are you talking about regular 5 Golden Rings or the bal-aged version?

Out of the bottle BA 2 Turtle Doves was very lackluster, but when they had it at the anniversary party (two years ago?) it was great.

so have we decided that all of these are still good, or have they all become messes? i keep inching closer and closer everyday to pulling the trigger and buying the set...

It is a little BS that BA5GR is $40 on the website but listed at $35 in the Terreux TR. Maybe the latter listing is a typo.

It's been a few years back since I had it out the bottle but at that time both bottle and drafts were great.

I can't speak to the first three years, but I've had the others recently and the only beer that is a mess is 6 Geese a Laying, which was my personal favorite from the bunch.

I'm one of the jackasses that sold a kidney for a BA PiaPT, but I got with it BA Doves, Hens, Birds, and Rings which I had only one bottle each of so I got to try them all before opening the set later. I think BA Rings is one of the best simply because it's so much different than the base, it's nearly 4% more ABV, boozy as shit, but still tons of Belgian character. Tastes like a bourbon soaked pineapple upside down cake.

Years ago in a holiday sale, I nabbed 100% BA Cuir, and when I was in LA to pick up some months later was told it was "oversold" and it got replaced with BA 2TD.

Not long after, they had another sale with more 100% BA Cuir, which this time sold out before I could buy any, and I've still never had it.

    Yes, I am still bitter.
