Looks like my local Old Chicago will have a couple Founders items starting next week. I'll be curious to see if Bells and Brooklyn follow suit. Surly has been on pretty consistently since they showed up.

Couldn't agree more. It's on draft down here in Colorado Springs so I am hopeful for 4-packs

Brooklyn BCS is definitely in the wild. Just saw some a few minutes ago at Lukas. They had the lager and Bel Air as well.

Somewhat related, the criminally underrated Dry Dock Coffee Stout is also on shelves everywhere. Don't sleep on that one.

Found my 4x of FBS. Its $1 less than a 6x of java stout, so 2/3 the price.

Lizard of Koz at Cedar Creek. Blueberry.
I had a bottle a couple years ago and really liked it, but I can't remember if the blueberry was this prominent.
I might have to have a few to really contemplate

Any idea on when CO will be seeing backwoods? Somehow I was buying FBS two weeks earlier in Castle Rock than the Ranch. Whoa.

It's on shelves in other distro areas right now. Saw some in Alabama last weekend. They might be rolling out the seasonals in waves.

Solid Gold is a nice new addition. It's basically a "craft" macro lager that's somewhere between a beer like Montucky and an authentic pilsner. It isn't something we don't already have, but it's at least a good example.

I have to admit I'm curious who the market is for, though. Are Bud drinkers really looking to pay more for something slightly better and/or are "craft" drinkers going this route instead of buying another IPA or stout? People like me can't possibly be a big enough demographic to maintain a brand...can we?

Isn’t that what Colorado lager is for?
Haven’t tried solid gold- how does it compare?

When I first read your comment, I thought you were talking about Colorado Native, but quickly remembered Odell Brewing did name their Lager - Colorado Lager. It’d be a good comparison and I might see if I have fresh versions of each beer. As far as a description, I’ll defer to @Domingo and allow him to do what he does best. :sunglasses:

I've had both several times and
I'd take Colorado lager every time, easily. Solid Gold is an adjunct American lager though, so may not be a fair comparison.

Perhaps best to compare to something more like DayBlazer, as both are sold in large quantity packs that seem to be aimed at stealing market share from mildly curious macro lager drinkers, in my opinion.

To me Solid Gold tastes much closer to something like Banquet or an "old man" beer like Olympia. It's like a slightly better macro, but would be right at home in an MGD drinker's fridge.
Odell Colorado Lager is kinda it's own thing. It's slightly toasty and I guess it tastes a little like an Amber or Vienna, but it's pretty unique. S26 Lager has a little of that, too.
Colorado Native reminds me of Sam Adams and Brooklyn Lager. "Revival" lagers or whatever you want to call them.
