Is the member only bottle list available online or only in house?

Never seen it posted online before...so assuming only in-house as to not cause issues when non-members see it and expect it (since most ppl tend to not read the entire thing and would skip where it says "members-only").

In house only. Just ask the bartender and they will provide it for you!

Had a blast at the tasting at the hi hat. Planning on going every month. My thoughts on the tasting

Poly- rythmo I'll be short and just say I'm not a fan. Didn't finish the taster. I rarely drink a pilsner, probably idea on a hot day.

Radix. Interesting to try a Cider from MT, balanced and tart, not overly sweet . My wife digs ciders, so she liked it. Though, we would prefer for it to be sweeter. Steven asked the crowd if they wanted it sweet, but got a census of "no". He was shocked, as he pointed out all you love sweet pastry stouts. Basically want a dessert in a blender! Apparently not with a Cider. Ha ha

Modem Tones Aged in Bourbon Barrels w/ Vanilla. Super stoked! I thought it was quite smooth (some mention it was hot compared to b1) and excellent. It was not a vanilla bomb. This was served before they mentioned what beer was presented . So the guy next to me was guessing that it was the maple variant since vanilla wasn't noticeable, and was fairly sweet. He was wrong, but that did not detract the fact it was nearly perfect. The only negative thing of the day, was that it was not served cold. Would of been nice, but it didn't ruin the experience.

MODEM TONES AGED IN BOURBON BARRELS W/ VANILLA, HAZELNUTS, & MAPLE SYRUP

Served cold! This one was considerably sweeter than MTV (but nothing like AC stouts) . I'd say it was as good as MTV. Hazelnuts was subtle in the finish. That's fine, wouldn't want it to overpower Vermont maple syrup . Naturally, No reason not to max out the 4 bottles.

    SHRINE OF THE FORSAKEN GODS
My pallette could not handle the change from stout to sour, so I could not get a read of it. Though if this served before the Modem tones, I would not fully appreciate or love them. So I'm glad they offered this last.

Had a wonderful experience. Thanks some much for the hard work, Steven and Leanne .

Was excellent to have to awesome stouts to start the year.

Glad to get the heads up for the welcome member party Jan 20th in LA.

Wanted to also chime in and give a huge shout out to everyone at Modern Times for the tasting at Hi Hat! This is my first year as a member and being able to attend these tastings while getting to know the community is truly exceptional. Makes me feel like I'm part of a really awesome club.

Went in not particularly interested in certain beers and left thinking, "Well crap, I want to buy everything now". Darn you Steven and Leanne! :stuck_out_tongue:

Ciders are something I do hope are received well (and kept not ridiculously sweet, even though I love me some pastry stouts). Wifey has Celiac so it'd be cool to bring home some goodies that are naturally gluten-free even though we know it's not in a dedicated gluten-free environment. Really enjoyed Radix and both Modem Tones are going to be absolutely delicious.

Looking forward to the welcome party, bottle sale, and an amazing year ahead!

Also will pile on with a vote for dry ciders! I really don't care much for sweet ciders.

    Yes and #nope

This sale begins at 10 AM tomorrow (1/7) and will be available for purchase until the League pre-sale closes at 9 AM on Saturday (1/12). The first day to pick-up bottles and cans will be 1/16 in San Diego / Los Angeles / Encinitas and 1/18 in Portland.

But that will also include your 2 bottles of MTV when you go and pick up.

Also apologies, your league sale DOES BEGIN on wednesday (1/9)

So to clear this up for a newb like me, my sale is tomorrow at 10am. I'm assuming you are in some higher tier or something that gives you an earlier pre-sale?

Also, what can we expect for the online sale. I see limit 1 for MT w/vanilla, count of 527. Should I expect to be on at 10am and be quick on the draw or is it allocated to members so I can go at lunch time and expect my one extra to be there?

Yes, there are ~125 of us in the Theory of Leisure Committee, their higher tier. Our pre-sale starts 48 hours before the League presale.

None of the beers for sale are guaranteed or allocated - if you want something with a lower bottle count, I'd highly suggest getting it as soon as you can.

If you have practice with BL sales, you'll have no issues with stuff like Modem Tones w/ Vanilla. Even if every Theory member buys their extra bottle, there will be ~400 left for 1000 League members - at the absolute minimum, you'll have a few minutes, and once it's in your cart, you have 10 minutes to check out. I'd expect it to last at least a couple hours as not everyone will buy the extra, not everyone will be on right at 10, etc., but all the same - if you really want it, snagging it ASAP is the way to go.

Am I the only MT fan that severely laments the fact they don't have a year round WCIPA that is clear and bitter and in the 7% abv range? I'm buying ALOT more PizzaPort, Mother Earth and Sierre Nevada to get my clear bitter IPA fix. MT seems to be all haze all the time, i enjoy the haze but not having any clear IPA option is a bummer.

From facebook and instagram comments, I think there's a lot of people who share your sentiment.

I liked the hazy version of Orderville when it first came out, but lately I've been wishing I could drink the original clear version.
