Alvarado Street Brewery — In The Garage
    Canned 01/24/19

Look: Straw yellow murky body, strong head formation on a mediumly aggressive pour, excellent head retention, ample lacing.
Smell: The nose on this beer is that typical Nelson dank. If you like the Nelson hop, you will love the aroma here. Medium smell intensity.
Taste: Very clean and nicely showcased Nelson. There's some amount of the floral-tropical overtones as well. (I love Mosaic cryo hopping). None of the yeasty taste at all, thankfully. Just a touch of hop burn on the back end.
Feel: Light-bodied, with a good New-England texture, medium carbonation.
Overall: Is there a difference today between the new-age hoppy pale ales and session IPA's. Certainly doesn't seem so. Overall this one's a winner though. For what this beer is, it excels in every category.

A very nice, classic Gose with a great, mellow balance and mild acidity.

Regular Coffee was one of those “wow” beers from Extreme Beerfrst 2014 (I’m pretty sure). Haven’t gotten to it since. Might need a trip north on 95 this year to try a few things.

I'm lucky to have access to some genuinely excellent brews today. Here's #2.

    Moonraker Brewing — Papillon DIPA

Look: Light orange, very murky, average head formation and retention, above-average lacing.
Smell: Citrusy up front, with other typical tropical notes; the aroma is medium in intensity for the style; very pleasant. (You can also tell that there is Strata in this beer, but I'm not sure how exactly to qualify that part.)
Taste: Citrusy through and through, but again, with those Strata melony-dank notes (again, sorry for the poor description). The taste is pretty strong, and overall quite great.
Feel: Medium to full body, medium carbonation, smooth texture, no apparent alcohol. Spot-on for a NEIPA.
Overall: Another fantastic Moonraker hazy. Papillon feels super-composed and well put together; all the flavors work extremely well in tandem. I hold these guys as the best producers of New-England style beers in Northern California, and it's because of beers like this one. Quite simply, this beer does everything well.

Last of my King Sue. It’s about 7 weeks old and for the first time ever I can smell cat piss that is often mentioned in beer reviews. I didn’t get that smell when this was fresher.

I was saving this 2017 CBS for a superb owl beer tomorrow, but since I'll be going somewhere else for the game and need to drive home...
