Thanks. I agree, it’s like they are their own worst enemy. Trying to stick to tradition and remain relevant at the same time. I think they should just stick to traditional styles and they would be a lot better off. Cheers

I might be odd but Alpine Spring is one of my favorite beers of the last ten years. Noble Pils right up there too. There must be something similar between those two as I loved them both and haven't found a SA beer similar since...

And I'm old enough to remember the double bock in six packs in the spring back before seasonal creep like now when bocks come out in January and February instead of March and April. I always was fired up for the double bock release. Of course then they went to four pack and jacked up the price and now it's not being made as far as I know like you said. Didn't realize they reformatted it but that makes sense as I remember not like the 4-pack double bocks as much and thought maybe it was just me.

Yeah the higher abv of the 4 pack Double bock just completely ruined the mouthfeel. 9% abv had it tasting closer to a barleywine than a bock. They put out Noble Pils every once in a while in variety packs but that’s about it.

Alpine Spring wasn’t my favorite per se but it was damn good. It also took some balls to release a kellerbier as a seasonal and I respected them for that. Maybe it didn’t sell all that well but I’m glad we can agree that it was a tasty beer.

Maybe they’ll dust off the old recipe books someday but I’m not holding my breath. A polite, well-intentioned email to their Customer Support team yielded a boilerplate ‘go fuck yourself’-esque reply. Whatever. Too much good beer out there to justify waiting on BBC to get their shit together

I’m pretty sure they released that somewhat recently in the Lager variety 12 pack or the Fall variety 12 pack (might have been labeled as a schwarzbier). They also released a coffee version of it as well.

Yes, last fall this beer was part of a 12-pack variety pack. But that is entirely different from producing this beer year-round as 6-packs.

    Cheers!

Color me crazy, but I miss the Imperial White. It was IMO nothing close to a traditional witbier, but it was a sweet, syrupy, joy.

This is only one I tried. I remember it being one of the most intriguing beers I've ever tasted.

Sam Adams still brews some of the beers mentioned in this thread, but in smaller quantities. Merry Maker is on tap at the Boston brewery right now. Black Lager was recently on tap at Doyle's down the street from the brewery. I believe Noble Pils and Holiday Porter made it into some variety packs recently.
