This might be one of the cases where there is more of an obligation to RS(Bruery only) than to HS: Apfelsaf was 15% of their included beers, and only 4% of the HS included beers. Tough to decide who should be given priority for the bottles there, at least to me...

From bruer talk I learned that Icky Thump is sweeter than SHIT w/c, more of a pastry stout. Also that apfel is unique in that the juice and beer were fermented together vs. Apple added later.

Has anyone there tried the Ruekeller? Is it actually brewed to style? Do they have the new glasses on hand, and if so what shape/size are they? I'm super excited for this lager series, if they actually are brewed to style (and not hopped to hell like a craft American pilsner).

They do have it and I’m going to order it shortly. I’ll take a picture of the glass too unless someone already has one.

Are they doing growler fills? It was on the website earlier, and I was going to drive up tonight to grab one, but it is now no longer listed as an option for Bruery Terreux, only for Bruery. Worried it's a mistake, and would prefer not to drive up for it if I can't get a growler to go...

    Thanks for any info!!

You're fine brother, no offense taken, nor any intended!

If they had made you buy it, yet still included it for RS, your position would make more sense, but they didn't. Did you not get any bottles today (or rather did you not have the opportunity to)? I am not talking about last year, or even M&FT. They targeted 2pp HS and 1pp RS. Whatever happened, they don't have 'n' bottles, where n = (2*HS) + (1*RS)+ (x*keg). I would imagine, the 'n' < RS+HS. There was not enough beer to do what they intended, so I think not "wasting" beers that were promised, to people who may not have even wanted the beer, makes total sense. I don't give af about M&FT either, truthfully, but this solution makes sense to me.

And at the end of the day, you easily could have bought upto 2 bottles, and chose not to. So I'm having a hard time understanding why you're so mad about this when you quite easily could have purchased two bottles today (maybe you still can tonight, I bought my 1 so I don't know if it's still there).

I think your "realization" that the Bruery rehashes stuff, is surprising if you are in HS. I know this is not 100% accurate, but I long ago noticed at clean Bruery they make ~10 beers in mass amounts: (BT/Anni/Wheatwine/SHIT) and they BA/ blend/ adjunct them. Terreaux you can trace practically everything back to OT/"sour blonde"/ToD/Hottenroth. There has been some new stuff, but the vast majority of what they sell is some adjuncted up cuvee of the core stuff from 5 years ago.

    I agree though, Spontanaheim = M.I.A. ... that ain't right.

I feel like the Bruery is where people start societies in craft beer and then after a couple years it grows old for them, because of all the things mentioned in this thread, that and people can only drink so many 20% abv stouts. Obviously there are exceptions, and most of those people graduate to hoarders and then feel even more invested and don’t want to give it up.

I had it a few hours ago; I enjoyed the Dortmunder from last week much more. I’m no expert, but: it looked amazing (clear, light), but I picked up a lot of corn on the nose and first taste. I reckon the style should be really clean with a hint of biscuit/malt, but I got corn. Not overwhelmingly or obnoxious, but more present than I hoped. 3-ish out of 5 for me, compared to style.

The new glasses (capri style) go on sale next Sunday at the event.

I’m still super pumped for this series!

Right. I took last year to shrink my inventory so I missed out on that, darn it.

Also, not the least bit excited about Mash & French Toast.

why mash as included? id rather go a 3rd month without an included beer. this has been a poor start to the year.

Hm, that's disappointing to hear: I enjoyed the Dortmunder but thought it was too hoppy for the style.

With regards to the corn, sounds like a DMS problem most likely... Really disappointing to hear. Must've been a short boil or a cooling issue, I guess?

Wow, icky already sold out. Didn’t realize it was limited release. Or maybe will restock?

Or is the 3/18 when sales begin and it was never up today?

Agree with almost all of this. Best SMM of the year so far.

Apfelsap is an easy max and wish I could get more.

Birdie Birdie was great. Tastes as described. Not a big Saison fan but better than I expected.

Hold the spoon was my least favorite. Not a big fan of peanut flour. If you are a fan of peanut flower you will like this.

White mocha has a ton of coffee on the nose and tongue. Very tasty.

Oude tart with cherries was delicious. Tart but not over the top with a ton of cherries.

Rice and beans was lighter than i remembered with less cinnamon and coffee. Not bad but not as good as i remember. Coffee was big on the nose. Not as much on the flavor.

Overall I was very pleased with this month.

Because, I mean, who's going to willingly fork over >$20 for an Imperial Brown Ale, amirite?

Oof lots going on this month, here's my take:

They botched yield on Afflesap, that sucks but at the very least they let us know ahead of time so we could purchase if it was a priority. Nobody had tasted it so you can't complain that you missed out... what if it sucked balls and was infected.

Now, the problem for me is that I am not a big fan of M&FT. In the future I would hope they start handing out bottle credit & we can choose whatever we ant to replace their failures. I know I am going to buy a few things over the course of the year, let me get what I want.

I'm hoping they reload the allocations later this month and I get to buy another bottle of Apfelsap. I'm also excited to hear I'm getting Mash and French Toast. I wasn't even aware they were making it again this year. I missed it last year, it was one of my highlights of 2017 RS.

On a side note, I have a feeling the Rue'd Attitude coming later this year is not what everyone is expecting. It is coming from Terreux, so I have a feeling it'll be a more sour version.

Thanks for the report. It's probably been said already but then I'll reiterate. Being here in the DC area, I appreciate any of the Cali folks who give their tasting notes of the allocation brews on tap as we're flying blind over here.

I think bottle credits (or even refunds) for extra purchased bottles is fair, but unnecessary for membership bottles. Those are always assumed to be brewer's choice and lots of other clubs don't even list every bottle they're planning in the first place.

I made this point yesterday. HS was promised one and ultimately got to buy two. Bruery Only RS as promised two and only got to buy one. Who knows what the planned purchase allotments were, and yes, HS usually gets twice. But let's just say it was two for HS and one for RS. That would have been three bottles combined for each membership. If anyone got shorted, it's Bruery Only RS.

You got your wish. There hasn't been an included beer yet. At least for RS Bruery Only. M&FT won't come out until later this year.

You didn't miss M&FT last year. It never happened. There was supposed to be a French Toast inspired Brown Ale. Most of us assumed it was M&FT. But sadly it didn't appear.

And I really hope you're wrong about Rue'd. Where did you see it's coming from Terreux? It's listed as an included bottle for RS combo members as an Imperial Porter with Coffee, Cherries and Vanilla. It does not show up as an included bottle for Terreux only members.
