Still at PDX pub as of 20mins ago, tons of cases left.
flight was $20, my favorite was 2009, followed by 2010... 2008 was ok, low carbonation. 2012 is still a bit fresh and astringent a little burnt coffee on the end.

    cheers

'11 was definitely the low point. Looks like one year later isn't late enough. I had one bottle from last year. I was planning on opening it up, looks like I have to wait another year.

Someone heard that they were running out of verticals when I was there around 3.

I am guessing they heard wrong, I didn't arrive until after 3, and at 6 I saw people still getting verticals.

Yeah I thought it seemed early to blow.

I've mentioned this before, but I've been disappointed with the recent Deschutes releases. They've been a shadow of the earlier vintages. I wasn't too impressed with the '11. Hoping the '12 is better, but I'm not holding my breath.

Yeah, that'd be me. Thankfully I have a very loving and understanding wife who is supportive of this hobby. For now.

Ya, next thing you know your belongings are in "your" front yard...with her screaming at you...went through that 20 years ago - say what?

And a huge pile of glass, representing what used to be my cellar.

I'm drinking the vertical right now and the 2011 is definitely an aberration. The 2012 is more in line with the others. I have to wonder what happened with the 2011 because it tastes like a completely different beer.

The 2012 shows promise, so don't be discouraged. I could see it becoming very good with some age.

Thanks for the update, man. You have restored some hope. Now, to hope that it's as good from the bottle as what you're drinking from the keg...

Hey we all bitched about the infected 09s. Someone's gotta pick up the bill for that flash pasteurizer and it sure as hell won't be them especially when its still getting sold out.

If they really want to substantiate their position in the NW with high end brew, they would kill the Stoic project, and actually make the Dissident correctly - they are trying to recover the project with massive fresh beers in this year's batch. The HotD collaboration was a complete failure, but what do I know...all I do is drag my nutz around in pursuit of worthy beers.

We're also picking up that tab...when you want bold and innovative and they listen, there's bound to be failures. We pay for them and fund new experiments by buying the successful ones.

I wish they'd stop thinking about expanding their reach and focus on the quality of their beers. The same could be said about Cascade as well.

    What? Don't agree?

Edit: Maybe the v in "vouch" was intentional, and you didn't mean to type "ouch"?

Other than at the brewery pub downtown, has the 2012 showed up anywhere else around town (Portland) yet? I know in the past it's usually taken several days to a week for places like Fred Meyer, MofC and Zupan's to get it in, so I was wondering if they got in their allocation yet. In the past, you could sometimes get the beer a bit cheaper at places like Zupan's and Fred Meyer, hence my curiousity.
