I recently talked to a district rep for Sam Adams about this very issue. She said they have talked to Capital "about the importance and value of these special releases being in the Austin market". Hopefully they listened. Merry Mischeif will be here soon and hopefully more of the "cool" SA releases in the future.

$6.99??? Man I got there as the truck was still unloading...probably didn't have a price figured out on it yet so just charged me whatever but I know I paid more than $6.99. I've actually come out on top before in this exact same situation at Sunrise so i guess I can't be too upset.

Excited to try it. Somebody please tell me this beer shines, despite its BA score of 82.

Certain that BA score is an accurate reflection of the beer. I don't understand the infatuation with these releases. They continue to disappoint. But that is my opinion.

Griffin's Bow was mind blowing. The others have all been at least interesting.

I actually thought it was pretty good. I would have liked a bit more gingerbread flavor to it, but otherwise it was a very drinkable beer, and I would rate it a good bit higher than an 82. I'd be happy to buy a few more - how many decent stouts can you get for $6.99?

If it's as good as Fat Jack, I'd be very pleased.

Nice. Good to see we're actually getting some this time around! It sounds like Capital finally got a clue either from SA or customers.

After trying and reviewing this brew tonight, I felt I should post a segment of my opinion here...I gave it a 4/5.

"Overall - I was excited to try this beer. And I'm sure I judged it much higher than my peers. Truth be told, for a 9% beer, it didn't totally live up to it's name. But, it wasn't a disappointment. This beer needs to be served during the holiday season, among other flavorful beers. It's not overly impressive, it's not overly impressionable, but it definitely serves it's purpose."

Agreed. I enjoyed a bottle last night.

The also had Verloren at Sunrise, which gives me high, high hopes for Norse Legend showing up soon.

Don't get your hopes too high for Norse Legend. It's a very unremarkable beer, imo. Glad you got some Merry Mischief though. I really enjoyed that one.

I really enjoyed Norse Legend last year, and was kicking myself for only getting one bottle and waiting to try it until it was off the shelves. So, it was remarkable to me.

Finally picked up 4 bottles tonight at Sunrise before seeing Skyfall at the Village. $6.99 and they had more.

I guess emailing Sam Adams 2 times RE: Fat Jack and this along with speaking to their Texas rep was worth it. Apparently I wasn't the only one.

They tried to build a Costco in Texas once, but all the horses, cowboys, cactii, and tumbling tumbleweeds made the project too expensive when it came to relocation and demolition.
