Jester King Biere De Blanc Du Bois

    Blend Five

    September 2018

Look: The beer pours a slightly hazy, translucent golden amber color. Bone white head struggles to stick around after an aggressive pour. No head across the top of the beer and a thin ring of foam around the edge of the glass. Some visible carbonation streaming from the bottom. Zero lacing.

Smell: First impressions of the nose are Granny Smith apple, pear, white grape, apple cider, powdery, perfume, floral, some white vinegar and hint of lemon juice.

Taste: Flavor profile is very clean, crisp, and light. The beer is fruity and includes many of the notes found in the nose, including apple, pear and white grape. It has elements of cider and white wine. I do not find the beer acidic outside of the bright natural fruit acidity (as opposed to any bacteria driven acidity) and it really is not that sour for me. The finish has a light bitterness

Feel: The feel is semi-dry. Low carbonation and aqueous. Could be the oak woody feel as well.

Overall: I find this beer very drinkable and straightforward. White fruit forward. The only “funk” I get is the floral/powdery aroma. No funk or off flavors. Highly drinkable at 8.1%. It’s not complex, but it’s well executed and really quite nice change of pace this weekend.

Catching up with another from earlier today now that everyone in the house has settled down for the night. This one courtesy of @FlintB, my first from Arclight.

Poured a hazy apricot color with a finger of white head that hung around for a bit.
Smells of peaches, flesh and skin. Acidic, tart aroma as well.
Initially a ton of peach, sweet, juicy, gives way to tart skin. Finishes quite acidic.
Medium to full body with good carb level. Clean, dry finish with lingering tartness.
Overall a tasty sipper on a sunny Spring day.

Ending the night with this one from @brutalfarce, my first from Back East.

Definitely looks the part of a NEIPA. Super hazy golden orange with a finger plus of soapy white head.
Smells of citrus, pine, juicy mango.
Taste follows, orange, mango, pine, grapefruit finish. Some bready malts coming through as well.
Medium to full body, well carbed. Smooth feel.
Overall a pretty tasty example of the style, not mindblowing but better than many I've had.

Cheers NBSers. I’m a little late to the party but it’s better than nothing.

Pours a deep mahogany brown. Nose is coffee, milk and baker’s chocolate, and smoke. Flavor follows with dark brown sugar, dark stone fruit, almond, bready malt and dry cracker. Mouthfeel is moderate to full with ample carbonation. Overall 4.0 range.

Went and saw Shazam tonight, nothing profound but fun and enjoyable. Too many of the funny parts were in the trailers though. Finally saw Aquaman last night too. It was pretty bad. Felt like a mashup of Tron Legacy, Avatar, Episode I, Antman and the Wasp, and Brenden Frasier’s Mummy. Cant win them all in the completely saturated genre.

Alright finally getting a chance to post after work. Everything in picture was from @smanson56 . Including the 5 year aged cheddar. It is quite sharp but so delicious. Especially with a nice ipa or stout. On to the beer. Trailside by kettle head. Nice tropical nose. Tastes follows. Very well balanced with some bready malt and an all citrusy hop finish. Medium body and creamy medium carbonation. I'll be enjoying this one for a while. Cheers

Yes, I'm happy for your Cavaliers. But, it hurt watching my Boilermakers go down to them...Should've never went to OT. But now that they are in the Final, I'm rooting for them. I like Texas Techs intensity and defense, but that Yosemite Sam "guns up" thing is just cheesy.

As for March Madness. Our very own @Roguer and @thebeers came down to the wire with their pick being Michigan State as the BIG10 team that would go deepest in the tourney, but with only 51 Spartan points on the board, Roguer wins it. Send me your new addy.

Cheers All. Not imbibing today. But I do like reading about yours.
